Daily Reflections – Week 52

Dear friends,

Well, the time has finally come. It’s time to say goodbye.

Throughout this year I posted a reflection on my Facebook page every day. I challenged myself, or, better, I accepted the Call of the Universe to not let a single day go by without sharing something that I thought could be helpful, inspirational and uplifting. Many times I was writing to myself, reminding me of what I need to do to live a better life. The majority of the entries have to do with my attempt to live more mindfully in order to live better. I wrote a lot on how mindfulness leads to gratefulness which leads to happiness. It all began back on January 1st and it is coming to an end now. I am grateful that I had the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual strength to do so. It wasn’t always easy to write, but with all this love I have for exploring and inspiring it surely was a very rewarding experience. I thank all of you who read my daily reflections, especially those who told me that what I had written has, in one way or another, enriched their lives. I hope this was the case for you. I hope you have enjoyed reading these daily reflections and that they may have enriched your life. Thank you for being with me on this journey.

Now, it is time to stop with the words, and follow Rumi’s advice,

“Stop the words now. Open the windows in the center of your chest, and let the spirits fly in and out.” ~ Mevlana Jalal’uddin Rumi (1207-1273)

Namaste = The divinity in me recognizes the divinity in you, gives thanks, and rejoices.

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Can you see the Magic, Mystery and Miracles? Can you hear the humming sound of silence? Can you feel the breeze? There is beauty all around us, right?

Be mindful! Be amazed! Be grateful! Be happy!

Today, and every day, is a good day to allow what is real and authentic within us to be born. Every day is a good day to remember who we truly are and what we were brought here to do. Every day is a good day to ask ourselves, “Who am I? What do I love? How shall I live, knowing that I will die? What are my gifts to the family of the Earth?”

Today is a good day to observe and realize that life is full of cycles, full of seasons, full of births, deaths, and rebirths. With every new day comes a new opportunity to let go of lives that have played themselves out and do not serve us anymore. With every new day comes a new opportunity for the birth of our true and authentic selves.

See every dawn as the beginning of a new cycle. May every dawn be a reminder and an invitation for you to allow your false self to die and your true self to be born.

Allow!

Do it!

Just do it!

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Be still. Close your eyes. Go to the center of your being, to that place of peace, and hear the humming sound of the silence. Open your eyes, look attentively to the big and the small, to what is near and what is far, and see beyond what you see. Nurture a heart full of peace and gratitude, and see all the Magic, Mystery and Miracles that surround you.

Be mindful! Be amazed! Be grateful! Be happy!

Today is a good day to be mindful of our thoughts.

Be mindful of the positive and negative thoughts, and the difference between them, and practice to populate your mind with loving thoughts, because this is what will enhance the quality of your life.

Apply the CARR method: Catch – Acknowledge – Release – Return. Catch yourself whenever you may be experiencing upsetting emotions, and become aware of the generating thoughts behind such emotions. Acknowledge these negative thoughts, calmly, without pushing them away, or running away from them. Take a good look at them, and decide if you are going to allow them to stay or if you are going to release them. If you decide to let them go, do so gently while inviting positive thoughts to come to you. Return to the enjoyment of the present moment with gratitude.

Remember: even if you are not living the life you want, find everything that is good in it now, and be grateful and happy.

The more you like the life you are living, the better it will get. On the other hand, the less you like the life you are living, the worse it will get.

Be mindful of your thoughts, and replace the negative with the positive. Let go of pessimism and embrace optimism. Be amazed by all the beauty that surrounds you. Be grateful for all the gifts life has given you. Love your life now, and be happy now!

Just do it!

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Look around with the eyes of the heart and see all the gifts life has given you.

Be mindful! Be amazed! Be grateful! Be happy!

Today is a good day to practice the art of living a worry-free life.

The first thing we must be conscious of is that whatever happens always happens in the present. Think about it: whatever happened in the past, actually happened in what was then the present moment. Similarly, whatever will happen in the future, when it happens, will be happening in what will then be the present. So, the best advice is, “Do not worry about the future. Keep your focus on the present.”

No one can know for sure what is going to happen, right? So why worry? Why imagine the worst? Why not imagine the best? Why not refrain from imagining completely? Why not simply live in the present, enjoying the presents?

When you find yourself troubled by fear that something bad may happen, focus on your breathing, even if just for a brief moment. This will help you redirect your thoughts to the here-now. Apply the CARR method. Catch the troubling thoughts, acknowledge them, release them, and return to the enjoyment of life in the present moment.

Come back to the here-now. Put your attention in the present. Look around, see beauty, and allow yourself to be bathed in wonderment. Enjoy the gifts life has given and keeps giving you. Enjoy the presents in the present. Be mindful. Be amazed. Be grateful. Be happy. And “don’t worry about a thing, ‘cause every little thing is gonna be alright.”

Remember, “In the end everything will be OK. If it is not OK, it’s not the end.”

Don’t worry! Be happy!

Don’t worry! Be mindful! Be amazed! Be grateful! Be happy!

December 28

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Look around and see beyond what you see. See the Magic, the Mystery and the Miracles. Smile.

Today is a good day to remember our fundamental duties in this life.

1 – Let go of lives that have played themselves out and do not serve you anymore.

2 – Figure out who you really are, and live out your real you; live an authentic and honest life.

3 – Figure out what you were brought here to do, and do it. Do what makes you come alive, what you are passionate about. Follow your bliss. Express yourself. Create what is uniquely yours, and let your life be your greatest work of art.

4 – Prepare yourself diligently to be the best that you can be, and to give the best contributions you can give, but be always ready to surrender control. Listen to voice of the Universe, and let the Spirit guide you. Free yourself from pre-established plans, step aside, and let the Spirit lead. Let yourself be used by the Life Force Energy to bring whatever must be brought into the world.

5 – Do the inner-work necessary to achieve a higher consciousness, experience oneness and feel the sacredness of all. Engage in a committed practice of silence and solitude. Meditate daily. Go to your place of peace, listen to the voice of the Universe, and get to experience a sense of oneness. Get to know, with every fiber of your being, that we are all one. Get to know that we are, at the same time, human and divine, mortal and immortal, independent and interdependent, separated and connected, many and one. Free yourself from the illusion of separateness and from the shackles of prejudice and hatred. Nurture what unites, not what divides. Connect, communicate and commune. Realize that when we wound someone else, we are wounding our own selves, our loved ones, and the entire humanity, even the ones still to be born. Realize that when we help someone else, we are helping ourselves, our loved ones, and the entire humanity.

6 – Strive to be the best that you can be, and support others on their journeys so they too can be the best that they can be. Compete less and cooperate more.

7 – Find peace within yourself, and help others find peace within their own selves.

8 – Give your best contribution to bring Heaven to Earth. Planet Earth is a beautiful Garden and an awesome Playground. Enjoy the beauty of the Garden and have fun in the Playground. And give your contribution to improve both, making the Garden even more beautiful and the Playground even more fun. And, remember to share your toys, because the happiness of others increases your own.

9 – Be optimistic and spread optimism. Host visions of a beautiful future for humanity and share those images and ideas.

10 – Live, love, laugh, listen, learn, lead, and leave a legacy. Live fully, Love wastefully, Laugh unboundedly, Listen attentively. Learn unceasingly, Lead compassionately, and Leave an honorable legacy.

11 – Simplify. Remember that, many times, less is more. Acquire less and appreciate more. Do less and rest more. Give yourself, often, the gift of rest.

12 – Be here, now. Be mindful. Be amazed. Be grateful. Be happy, content and satisfied.

13 – Live knowing that you will die. Create a life that allows you to feel proud of yourself, of what you stand for, and of the good you bring to the world. Love yourself, and know that there’s no greater reward in life than to look at your own self and admire what you see. There’s no greater sense of accomplishment than knowing that you have fulfilled your destiny.

December 29, 2015

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Look around and see the beauty that surrounds you.

Be mindful! Be amazed! Be grateful! Be happy!

Today is a good day to spend more time “in the zone.”

To be “in the zone” is to be in a desirable state in which you are fully immersed and completely absorbed by the activity at hand, feeling energized, focused, and enjoying the process. When you are “in the zone,” you are “flowing with the flow,” achieving great things effortlessly, and feeling happy.

Our goal should be to be “in the zone” as often as possible.

The paradox is that you have to put in some effort first in order to break through a threshold and reach that state in which effort is no longer needed, and you are, then, taken over by a Higher Force that uses you — this refined instrument that you have become — to effortlessly bring what needs to be brought to the world.

I believe that before you reach that flow state in which you surrender and allow the Divine Force to flow through you, you have to improve yourself; you have to do some things in order to reach that state in which you don’t do anything, and great things are done through you.

The desire to be better is praiseworthy, and the commitment to do what is necessary to improve oneself is honorable, but let us be aware that the motivation to improve ourselves is a selfish one. That’s OK, as long as we are cognizant of the arrogance of the ego that takes us to compare ourselves with others in order to give us emotional rewards through feelings of superiority, feelings that we are better than them. For instance, even on the journey to attain spiritual enlightenment the ego takes us to say, “I am obviously more evolved and more spiritual than you because I do this and that and you, clearly, do not.”

Anyway, apply yourself to learn, but live in a state where you don’t struggle to learn because you have realized that knowledge and wisdom are already here, and that you already know what needs to be known.

Apply yourself to do, and reach that point when you don’t do, but simply allow the Divine Force to do through you.

Apply yourself and experience the wondrous shift from human-doing to human-being.

Just do it! Just be it!

Namaste. ~ Piero

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Look around and be grateful for all the gifts life gives you. Be happy!

Today is a good day to give thanks.

Give thanks for this life, this incredible adventure, this amazing opportunity to learn and teach. Give thanks for your health and that of your loved ones. Give thanks for your contagious optimism and positive attitude. Give thanks for the people you meet. Give thanks for smiling, making new friends, and making not only their day, but also yours better.

Remember that we cannot force ourselves to love. What we can do is to surrender to a Higher Force and allow Divine Love to flow through us. We can help by committing to express more love to everyone we meet. This is an honorable intent. We can also help by removing negative feelings that impede the Life Energy to flow freely through us.

Come to the realization that love is already in you, and that you don’t need to look for it anywhere else. Realize how important it is to choose loving responses. Be mindful, take your time, and ask yourself, “What would love have me do?”

Love yourself. Be your own best friend.

Realize that when you love others you are loving your own self, because we are all one. They are you. You are them.

Come to that point when you don’t have to do anything. All you have to do is to surrender and allow Love to do through you.

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Look around with the eyes of the heart, and see all the Magic, Mystery and Miracles that surround you. Be amazed by all this beauty. Realize how good your life already is, and be grateful for it. Be happy.

Today is a good day to remember who you really are and what you were brought here to do. Today is a good day to put yourself in motion to fulfill your destiny. Be courageous. Live the life that only you can live. Surrender and allow the Force to use you to give the gifts that must be given.

Today is a good day to remember that you are special, and that you must be treated with all the reverence you deserve. Be good to yourself, and demand others to treat you respectfully. Love yourself.

Today is a good day to remember that today is a very special day because it is the first day of the rest of your life. Today is this day, the only one you really have. Be here, now.

Today is a good day to remember that to be joyful is your birthright, so enjoy the beauty of this Garden and have fun in this Playground that was given to you.

Finally, today, and every day, is a good day to remember that mindfulness leads to gratefulness, and that gratefulness leads to happiness, so be mindful, be grateful, and be happy. Heaven in here if we want it to be.

Just be!

And know that you are loved.

Daily Reflections – Week 51

I hope you enjoy reflecting on these passages. ~ Piero

December 18

December 18

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Look around and realize that there is more in the Universe than we are able to see with our eyes.

Be amazed! Be grateful! Be happy!

Today is a good day to look and see.

“The question is not what you look at, but what you see.” ~ Henry David Thoreau

December 19

December 19

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

We have so much to be grateful for, haven’t we?

Pause for a moment, and immerse yourself in the silence. Can you hear the humming sounds of the silence? Become aware of your breath, of your body, and of the world around you. Look near and far. See the big and the small. See unexplainable Magic, Mystery and Miracles happening all around you. Be grateful for this wonderful adventure we call life, for this opportunity to enjoy the gifts the Universe gives us.

Be amazed! Be grateful! Be happy!

Today is a good day to take another step, however small, to simplify your life. Today is a good day to do another thing, however little, that will bring you closer to living the life you are called to live.

Plan your work, and, gently, work your plan. Do a little bit everyday, and remember to do, whatever you may be doing, mindfully and gently. Free yourself from negativity. Whenever you catch yourself entertaining negative thoughts, acknowledge them, and gently release them. Become aware of the beauty of nature, find reasons to give thanks, and come back to the enjoyment of the present moment.

Today is a good day to rejoice with whatever progress, however tiny and trivial, you have made so far to simplify your life in order to live the life of your dreams.

Remember to be gentle with yourself. Love yourself. You deserve to be loved. Know that you are loved.

Namaste. ~ Piero

“I learned this, at least, by my experiment; that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours. . . . In proportion as he simplifies his life, the laws of the universe will appear less complex, and solitude will not be solitude, nor poverty poverty, nor weakness weakness.” ~ Henry David Thoreau

December 20

December 20

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Take in the beauty that is all around you. Be amazed! Be grateful! Be happy!

Today is a good day to have fun.

Decide to enjoy the day with a light and joyous spirit. Go do what makes you come alive, what brings a smile to your lips. Discard the routine and go do something unusual today. Get together with your friends, and go outside. Explore and play. Dance and sing. Run and jump. Laugh and love. Go play with your dog, and if you don’t have one, go play with your neighbor’s dog. Be creative. Write some poetry. Play an instrument. Draw and paint. Make a mess, get dirty, and laugh about it all. Allow the kid within you to come out and have fun.

Today is a good day to be happy and make others happy. Smile at everyone you meet. Make it your goal to bring happiness to world.

Be grateful and be happy.

December 21, 2015

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Look around and see all the wonder that surrounds you.

Be amazed! Be grateful! Be happy!

Today is a good day to reflect on the fundamental questions, “Who am I? Why am I here? Where am I going?” or as Wayne Muller puts it, “Who am I? What do I love? How shall I live, knowing that I will die? What is my gift to the family of the Earth?”

When Mary gave me the stone, she solemnly deposited it in the palm of my hand, and while holding it with both her hands, and looking me straight in the eyes, she said, “May this crystal remind you of who you are and what you were brought here to do.”

I believe that we came here to learn. We came here to teach. We came here to work on our own selves, undergo radical transformations, and have those mystical experiences that make us feel that we, all of us and the entire Universe, are one. We came here to journey from the grounds of separation and exclusion to those places of unity and inclusion.

We came here to learn to see beyond what we see, and see all the magic, mystery and miracles that surround us. We came here to enjoy the splendor of this beautiful garden and have fun in this awesome playground that was given to us. We came here to walk the path from selfishness to selflessness, and learn that we have more fun when we share our toys. We came here to give our contributions to make the garden even more beautiful and the playground even more enjoyable.

We came here to live, love, laugh, listen, learn, lead, and leave a legacy.

We came here to understand — and to help others understand — that Heaven is here if we want it to be.

That’s what we came here to do.

What are you waiting for?

Just do it!

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Look attentively and deeply, and see all the Magic, Mystery and Miracles that surround you.

Be amazed! Be grateful! Be happy!

Today is a good day to practice to catch, acknowledge and release negative thoughts.

Whenever you catch yourself being pessimistic, envisioning failure, or doubting yourself, acknowledge what you are thinking, and without recriminating yourself for having such thoughts, release them. Do this with great gentleness. Say to yourself, “Here I am again, having negative thoughts. I already know where they will take me, and it is not a good place. I don’t need to think this way. I can choose to think differently. I can release these thoughts and choose to entertain more optimistic ones.” Then, return to the here-now, and mentally recite a series of positive affirmations that remind you of how wonderful you are and how good life is.

Relax. You don’t have to be right all the time. Failures are OK, because it is through them that we learn. So, don’t be too hard on yourself. No one is perfect. Remember that you don’t need to prove anything to anyone. Don’t depend on external approval to feel worthy. Don’t give others the power to determine your value. Be conscious of your own worth. Nurture self-esteem. Be happy with whom you are. Be proud of yourself. Love yourself.

Just do it!

Namaste. ~ Piero

“What advice would you give the younger you?”
“There’s no time I would go back and say, ‘Do this differently.’ Experiencing mistakes has been devalued in our culture. They want people to make the right decisions at all times. Well, there’s a saying in research science: If you’re not making mistakes, then you’re not on the frontier of discovery. I’m the sum of the correct decisions I’ve made and the incorrect decisions I’ve made; each one of those shapes the wisdom that I carry today.” ~ Neil deGrasse Tyson

December 23, 2015

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Look around and see all the Magic, Mystery and Miracles that surround you.

Be amazed! Be grateful! Be happy!

Today is a good day to practice to catch, acknowledge and release negative thoughts.

Many times we get afraid when happiness arrives. We question ourselves: “I am happy now, but will I be happy in the future? Will this condition last?” We say to ourselves, “Happiness does not last forever; something bad is going to happen.”

It is not uncommon when everything is fine for us to allow doubt and fear to take over. Instead of enjoying the gifts that were given to us, we lose them in negative thinking, imagining the worst things that could happen. And, as self-fulfilling prophecies, when bad things start to happen, we don’t see that we were responsible; we fail to understand that we attract what we think the most. Our own thinking attracts all situations: the ones we want, and even the ones we want to avoid.

Don’t fall in this self-created trap! Realize that you are in control of your thinking, that you don’t have to think the way you are thinking, that you can decide to release the negative thoughts and replace them with positive ones.

How?

Practice mindfulness, the art of living mindfully. Apply the CARR method: Catch – Acknowledge – Release – Return. Catch yourself thinking negatively. Catch the negative thoughts. Acknowledge them. Release them. Return to the enjoyment of the present in the present.

Be here, now. Don’t let your mind drift away from the present. Don’t worry about the future because whatever happens, always happens in the present. Stay here, in this present moment. Accept all gifts that the Universe gives you. Enjoy the gifts that were given to you. Enjoy this present moment, and realize that it is a wonderful moment. Realize that you are a child of the Universe, that you are special, that you are a blessing to the world, and that you deserve to be happy. Joy is your birthright.

Don’t worry. Be happy.

Just do it!

Namaste. ~ Piero

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Look around and entertain the idea that there may be other realities beyond the one that is visible to you, and that if you look with extreme attention, you will be able to see beyond what you see, and see all the Magic, Mystery and Miracles. So, pay attention and be alert. Look and see the invisible, and be amazed by the splendor, grateful for the gifts, and happy.

Today is a good day to decide to be the hero of your own life.

Be the hero. Be the warrior. Don’t be the coward. Don’t run away, hide, escape, or numb yourself. Be present with everything that is happening in your life, both the good and the bad. Face your fears and solve your problems. Don’t let fear consume you.

Be not afraid. Be the hero.

Look around with the eyes of the heart and see the essential which is invisible to the eyes. Be awake, alert, aware and alive. See all the Magic, Mystery and Miracles of this Universe.

Today is a good day to be reverent.

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Look around and see what you were not able to see before. Look at the shadows and the light. Look at what is near and what is far away. Look at the little things and the big ones. Realize that we are on top of a revolving sphere that is traveling through an endless cosmos in which we are just a little, pale blue dot, as Carl Sagan called our planet. Think about all this and be, at the same time, humbled and amazed. Think about the Magic, the Mystery, and the Miracles. Put things in perspective and see that what seems to be extremely important maybe isn’t. Think about the sacredness of all and be reverent. Be grateful for your life, for this adventure of exploration and discovery. Be happy!

Today is a good day to rest.

Give yourself the gift of rest. Simply rest. Don’t do anything today, just enjoy life. Don’t ask anything today. Don’t desire anything to be different today. Just be grateful. Just feel that you have been blessed, that you have received many gifts, and that you have more than enough. Give thanks for all you are, all you do, and all you have. Be happy, content and satisfied. Don’t go after anything today, and don’t be surprise if what you need comes to you.

Look around with the eyes of the heart and see what is essential. Be amazed by all the beauty that surrounds you! Be grateful for all the gifts the Universe gives freely to you! Be happy!

Today is a good day to reflect on the connection between, mindfulness, gratefulness and happiness.

It is only by being mindful that we can acknowledge the Magic, Mystery and Miracles. The art of living consciously makes us be present, in the here-now, awake, alert, aware and alive. Paying attention allows us to see beyond what we normally see. It is by pausing and appreciating that we can acknowledge the gifts, and be grateful and happy.

Do want to be happy? Then, be grateful.

Do you want to remember to give thanks many times during the day? Then, be mindful.

Mindfulness is the key that opens the gates to the kingdom of gratefulness, and gratefulness is the key that opens the gates to the kingdom of happiness.

Be mindful. Be grateful. Be happy.

Spaceship Earth – Part 2

We need to realize how inherently violent is the world we live in. We live inside violent power structures. Our families, schools, workplaces, communities, churches, and nations are all violent systems of domination and subjugation. We need to realize that although we live within violent cultures, it doesn’t need to be so. We can reduce the violence, and bring gentleness, kindness, compassion, respect, and nonviolence to all our relationships with each other and the planet.

We need to move to a new paradigm that replaces the current one.

yuriearth_iss_3032

It is time for us to agree that the current ways we have organized ourselves to live on this planet may be working temporarily for some, but are not currently working for everyone, and, in the long range, will certainly not work for anyone. We need to come up with better ways.

The most damaging belief residing in the collective unconscious is that there isn’t enough for everyone. This idea of scarcity, and the fear of impending times of lack, compel humans to engage in a process of unending competition for the accumulation of resources. As a result, to compete and to defeat others, to gain access and deprive others of access, to own and deprive others of owning resources that make life easier, is accepted, without questioning, as the rule of the game. Immersed in this competitive culture, we grow conditioned to believe that the only viable way of operating on this planet is selfishly: “Each man for himself” and “Only the strong survive” are adopted, indisputably, as guiding principles. Cooperation and solidarity are quickly disregarded as wishful thinking of the weak.

Unfortunately, we have created a global economic system based on super-sized corporations focused on short term profits. In the final analysis, what commands all major decisions is the question, “How can we maximize profit this quarter?” This short-sighted focus propels the privatization of gains and the socialization of losses. In the struggle to maximize profits and minimize costs, social responsibility gets very little attention, or is totally ignored. The care for others and the environment, the care for the health of the community, the payment of just wages, the payment of benefits for workers,  the payment of taxes that, in the final analysis, benefit the entire community, are all seen as obstacles on the way of maximizing profits.  This all leads to the situation we are living right now: a world of unbearable inequalities, with an absurd concentration of wealth, that is bringing about a never-ending series of social and environmental problems.

Maybe the majority of our problems comes from over-consumption and waste. We don’t even notice it anymore, but we have been conditioned to desire, buy, and consume much more than what we actually need. This short-sighted vision emphasizes production, consumption, and waste, as the way of maximizing gains. The bigger picture – the Spaceship Earth idea — is seldom, if ever, brought into consideration by those making corporate decisions.

Fueled by the drive for ceaseless accumulation, wealth and power end up concentrated in the hands of a few while the majority of individuals scramble to survive. Within this scenario, where the majority of Earth’s population is focused on short-term survival , little room is left for its inhabitants to see the bigger picture. Social injustice, exploitation, oppression, inequality, poverty, destitution, and so on, make it very difficult for earthlings to join forces, work together, and tackle humanity’s biggest problems.

But the truth is that it doesn’t have to be this way. We have the capacity to organize ourselves differently and find better ways to live and prosper together. The truth is that we don’t need so much. We can live much simpler and satisfying lives. The moment we bring about a juster society, where everyone’s basic needs are met, individuals will be more inclined to cooperate with one another, and our interactions with the planet and all its inhabitants will be less aggressive and damaging.

A time will come when we will transcend our sense of separation, and realize our inextricable interconnection and complete oneness. We will, then, put aside whatever divides us, embrace this new cosmic perspective, and work together to repair and maintain Spaceship  Earth. We will realize that we need to stop the destruction, heal the environmental wounds we have inflicted on our planet, create a sustainable future, and preserve our habitat in order to save ourselves.

This is our common goal.

The task is huge, and it is urgent. There’s nothing more important. We are on this One Planet and we, the inhabitants of this planet, are United by the same destiny. We have to understand that we are all in this together, for real.

We are One Planet United.

<><><>

“I really believe that if the political leaders of the world could see their planet from a distance of 100,000 miles their outlook could be fundamentally changed. That all-important border would be invisible, that noisy argument silenced. The tiny globe would continue to turn, serenely ignoring its subdivisions, presenting a unified facade that would cry out for unified understanding, for homogeneous treatment. The earth must become as it appears: blue and white, not capitalist or communist; blue and white, not rich or poor; blue and white, not envious or envied.” ~ Michael Collins, astronaut of the Gemini 10 and Apollo 11 missions.

<><><>

We need new mindsets. We need new prevailing ideas. We need new paradigms.

This blog was inspired by the documentary “Overview.”

I have dedicated myself to promote the vision that this planet of ours is our Garden and our Playground, and that we are called to enjoy the beauty of the Garden and have fun in the Playground; that we are called to share our toys because the enjoyment of others enhances our own; that if we feel like doing it, we should give our contribution to make the Garden more beautiful and the Playground more enjoyable; that we are called to understand that this is Heaven, if we want it to be!

Infinite Parallel Realities

My recent comprehension of time and space is twofold: one is given by my sensory perception, and the other is being suggested to me by out-of-the-box thinkers.

In the first understanding, I believe that we do not occupy more than one space at the same time: we move around and we go from place to place, but once we leave one spot, we are not there anymore. Regarding time, it passes, and, therefore, there was a past, there is a present, and there will be a future. I see time as a linear progression of events, a reality that does not allow me, or anyone else, to go to the past or the future; time travel is not possible.

The new take on time and space is that we can be in many spaces at the same time. Past and future do not exist; everything is happening in this very moment. I can be the protagonist of several stories that are happening simultaneously, and that are taking place in infinite parallel realities. I am living this life that I am aware of right now, but I am also living infinite other lives that I cannot be aware of from this place and time where I stand. In those other parallel lives, I have made other choices, therefore those lives are different than the one I am currently consciously living.

Where does this possibility take me?

I am called to imagine that if I am not happy with the life I am currently living, and the world where I am living, I can choose to jump — literally jump — into the life that I want to live, the one that makes me feel happy, content and satisfied, because this life already exists in a parallel reality, and is available for me in this very moment.

So, it is as if I were in a multiplex theater. I am in one auditorium watching a movie, and the life I want to live, and the world I want to live in — a world of compassion, understanding, peace and unity — is in a movie that is playing in the room next door. All I would have to do, then, is to leave this room where I am —  leave this movie of a life and a world that I don’t like — and walk over to the next auditorium where the movie of my ideal life in a just, peaceful world is playing.

How do I get there? This is not clear to me at this stage of my personal development. The most honest answer would be, “I don’t have a clue.” I intuit that the practice of meditation, creative visualization, and positive affirmations is how the process begins. Imagining, visualizing and affirming. Imagining a new story, the ideal story of my ideal life — imagining a whole new world, imagining Heaven on Earth — and seeing it in my mind, and then writing it down, telling it, drawing it, creating a movie based on it, using any other creative ways that allow all these images to populate my dreams (and, also, the dreams of other individuals) is where all this begins. The second step, after this one, is to learn how to properly dream, and to begin to live this life, the life I want to live, in my dreams.

Let me try to make this clearer: imagine that the world we perceive when we are not sleeping and dreaming is an illusion. Imagine that what we think is reality is in fact an illusion, and that we actually live our “awakened lives” when we are dreaming. When we dream we are not restricted by space and time: we can visit other “realities;” we can fly; we can be in several places, and jump from one to another instantly.

In this context, the expression “to make your dreams reality” gains a whole new meaning.

Something else that popped in my head…

But, then, important questions emerge: Since I am chasing something, striving to get somewhere, trying to reach a condition that is different than what is, shouldn’t I let go of all this pursuit and live totally in the here-now? Isn’t this pursuit of a different life a pursuit of the ego? Isn’t all this desire to get to a better life in a better world a pursuit of an ego that sees itself separated from the whole? Doesn’t the awareness that we are one make this pursuit meaningless?

The other thing is that, maybe, I got it all wrong. I have been trying to bring Heaven to Earth, and maybe that’s not what I need to do. I don’t need to change this reality. I don’t need to do anything here, just accept what is. What I must do is to find a way to go to a parallel reality where Heaven already is on Earth.

What else can I say?

The exploration continues!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiverse

The multiverse (or meta-universe) is the hypothetical set of finite or infinite possible universes, including the universe we live in. Together, these universes comprise everything that exists: the entirety of space, time, matter, energy, and the physical laws and constants that describe them. The various universes within the multiverse are called “parallel universes” or “alternate universes”.

The structure of the multiverse, the nature of each universe within it and the relationships among the various constituent universes, depend on the specific multiverse hypothesis considered. Multiple universes have been hypothesized in cosmology, physics, astronomy, religion, philosophy, transpersonal psychology, and fiction, particularly in science fiction and fantasy. In these contexts, parallel universes are also called “alternate universes”, “quantum universes”, “interpenetrating dimensions”, “parallel dimensions”, “parallel worlds”, “alternate realities”, “alternate timelines”, and “dimensional planes”, among other names. The American philosopher and psychologist William James coined the term multiverse in 1895, but in a different context.

The physics community continues to fiercely debate the multiverse hypothesis. Prominent physicists disagree about whether the multiverse may exist, and whether it is even a legitimate topic of scientific inquiry. Serious concerns have been raised about whether attempts to exempt the multiverse from experimental verification may erode public confidence in science and ultimately damage the nature of fundamental physics. Some have argued that the multiverse question is philosophical rather than scientific because it lacks falsifiability; the ability to disprove a theory by means of scientific experiment has always been part of the accepted scientific method. Paul Steinhardt has famously argued that no experiment can rule out a theory if it provides for all possible outcomes.

Supporters of one of the multiverse hypotheses include Stephen Hawking, Brian Greene, Max Tegmark, Alan Guth, Andrei Linde, Michio Kaku, David Deutsch, Leonard Susskind, Raj Pathria, Alexander Vilenkin, Laura Mersini-Houghton, Neil deGrasse Tyson and Sean Carroll.

How do I live knowing that I will die?

Here are, according to George Harrison, the fundamental questions: “Who am I? Why am I here? Where am I going?” or as Wayne Muller puts them, “Who am I? What do I love? How shall I live, knowing that I will die? What is my gift to the family of the Earth?”

When Mary gave me the stone, she solemnly deposited it in the palm of my hand. While holding my hand between hers, she looked me in the eyes and said, “May this remind you of who you are and what you were brought here to do.”

“What was I brought here to do?”!!! Wow!!! This is a big question…

I believe that we came here to learn. We came here to teach. We came here to work on our own selves, undergo radical transformations, and have those experiences that make us feel that we — all of us and the entire Universe — are one. We came here to journey from the grounds of separation and exclusion to those places of unity and inclusion. We came here to realize the ever-producing and never-ending abundance of this Universe, realize that there is more than enough for everyone to live good lives. We came here to learn to let go of the need to compete, defeat, and accumulate more than we need. We came here to learn to criticize less, judge less, condemn less, and love more. We are here to walk the path from selfishness to selflessness. We came here to grow in empathy, compassion, kindness, and generosity, and learn that we have more fun when we share our toys. We came here to learn to see beyond what we see, see all the magic, mystery and miracles that surround us, and be grateful. We came here to enjoy the splendor of this beautiful garden and have fun in this awesome playground that was given to us. We came here to give our contributions to make the garden even more beautiful and the playground even more enjoyable for all. We came here to understand — and to help others understand — that Heaven is here if we want it to be. We came here to observe the impermanence of all things, and learn how to live knowing that we will die.

We came here to practice looking deeply, listening attentively, learning unceasingly, leading compassionately, laughing profusely, and loving wastefully in order to live fully. May we be able to leave an honorable legacy behind and let go of everything with grace and ease when the time of departure arrives.

To look. To listen. To learn. To lead. To laugh. To love. To live. To leave a legacy. To let go of all.

That’s what we came here to do.

That’s what we were brought here to do.

Daily Reflections – Week 49

I hope you enjoy reflecting on these reflections. ~ Piero

December 4

December 4, 2015

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Look around with the eyes of the heart and see beyond what you normally see. See all the beauty that surrounds you. See the Magic, the Mystery and the Miracles.

Be amazed! Be grateful! Be happy!

Today is a good day to remember who and what you were brought here — to this dimension of time and space — to be and do.

Remember that your mission in this life is to be you, and to do what you have been ordained to do. Remember that you have the freedom to choose, and that every choice either brings you closer, or moves you farther away from manifesting your real you. Remember that if you choose to be who you are meant to be, and do what you are meant to do, you will be happy and a blessing to the world.

So, figure out who you really are, and choose to be that person; go be the best possible version of yourself. Figure out what you were brought here to do, and choose to do it; go give your best possible contribution to the world.

Honor yourself by being authentic and honest with yourself, and choose wisely, with the utmost integrity. Choose to be you, and to do what you have been called by the Universe to do.

Just be it! Just do it

Namaste. ~ Piero

“We’re here to realize the deeper purpose of humanity—to realize the timeless dimension, and then live in this world without losing that deeper awareness. If humans do not embrace the new consciousness, then the old consciousness will create more and more havoc on the planet. Ultimately, every one of us begins to teach this new consciousness by living it ourselves, bringing transcendence into daily life. It’s an evolutionary leap forward.” ~ Eckhart Tolle

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Look around with the eyes of the heart and see beyond what you normally see. Look at what is big and what is little, and see all the beauty that surrounds you. Look at what is near and what is far, and see all the Magic, Mystery and Miracles of the Universe.

Be amazed by this spectacle! Be grateful for all the gifts that continue to be given to you! Be happy!

Today is a good day to reflect on our need of belonging.

One of the fundamental needs of all human beings is the need to connect, communicate and commune with others. We need to fulfill this need, and experience that we belong to a community in which we are respected and loved. Deep inside ourselves, we all yearn for unity. And even if we haven’t yet experienced epiphanies that revealed these truths to us, in our core we know that we are one, that we are all together, that we are all pieces of the same whole. So, today, go to the center of your being and experience oneness. Get together with others, and practice to embrace diversity, promote unity, and create community. Do so, and fulfill this need of connection, communication and communion. Do so, and you will be bringing more peace to the world.

Just do it!

Namaste. ~ Piero

“For this is why we were born: people, all people, belong to each other, and he who shuts himself away diminishes himself, and he who shuts another away from him destroys himself.” ~ Howard Thurman

December 6

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Move slowly and pay attention. Take your time and see beyond what you see. Don’t rush. See all the Magic, Mystery and Miracles of the Universe unfolding in front of you. Be amazed with all the beauty that surrounds you! Be grateful for all the gifts that the Universe gives freely to you! Be happy!

Today is a good day to pause and take a good look at yourself. Do you love yourself? The measure of true success in life is the ability to say with all honesty and conviction, “I love myself. I love the person I became. I love the contributions I give to the world. I love who I am, what I do, and all that I have. I am grateful. I am happy.” Can you say that? How does it sound?

If saying it does not sound sincere, decide, today, to be you, to be the person you are meant to be. Decide to do what you were brought here to do. Be honest and authentic, follow your bliss, and do what makes you come alive. By doing so, you will be happy, and giving your greatest contribution to the world.

Just do it!

Namaste. ~ Piero

” It’s never too late to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit. Start whenever you want. You can change, or stay the same. There are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it, and I hope you make the best of it. I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of, and if you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.” ~ I got these words from the movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, based on a short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald. The screenplay was crafted by Eric Roth. They deserve all the credit.

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Look around and see all the beauty that surrounds you. Be amazed! Be grateful! Be happy!

Today is a good day to realize that nothing can give you more satisfaction than loving your own self. Nothing compares to the feeling you extract when you look at yourself and like whom you see. No success in life compares to admiring your own self and what you stand for. Nothing can give you more peace of mind and a greater feeling of fulfillment than knowing that you are who you are meant to be, and that you are doing what you were brought here to do. And a great peace is felt when you realize that what you are doing is enough.

Today is a good day to say to yourself, “I love the person I became. I love who I am, what I stand for, and what I bring to the world. I love what I do. I love myself.”

Follow you bliss and enjoy this kind of peace.

Namaste. ~ Piero

December 8, 2015

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Open your eyes and look near and far; see the small things and the big ones. See all the Magic, Mystery and Miracles that surround you. Be amazed by the beauty of the Universe! Be grateful for all the gifts that the Universe gives freely to you! Be happy!

Today is a good day to understand that our greatest mission in this life is to be who we are meant to be, and to do what we were brought here to do. It is only by following our bliss, and doing what makes us come alive, that we will be truly happy with our own selves. It is only by being authentic and honest with ourselves that we will be able to love our own selves.

Once you get to that point on your journey when you are able to say to yourself, “I love myself, and what I stand for. I love who I have chosen to be and do. I love who I am and what I do,” you will realize that although you have heard praise many times before, this voice — your voice — expressing acceptance, admiration and love for you, is the one you have been waiting your entire life to hear, and once you hear it, you will experience endless peace.

Namaste. ~ Piero

December 9

December 9

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Look at the sky, the plants, the people, the animals. Look at all beings and things, near and far. Feel the breeze! Be amazed by all this Magic, Mystery and Miracles! Be grateful! Be happy!

Today is a good day to make yourself available to receive love.

Are you able to receive love? Are you able to accept praise openly, completely, without reservation? Or are you constantly criticizing yourself, bringing back the mistakes of the past? If you feel that you aren’t good enough, then it may be difficult for you to accept praise. If you feel that you don’t deserve, it may be very difficult for you to receive love; and if you can’t receive it, you can’t truly give it.

Don’t stop the flow of energy. Don’t put up obstacles that prevent the exchange of love. Stop criticizing yourself, and feeling that you are not good enough. Forgive yourself. Realize that a new life starts at every moment, and that you don’t need to bring back the bad things that happened in the past. Let go of the past. Let go of the old story, and invent a complete new narrative for you, full of successes. Leave the old path, and jump into a new, beautiful one.

Start living the life of your dreams, now. Start being who you are meant to be, now. Start doing what you are meant to do, now. Start feeling that you already are a success. Accept praise, and praise your own self for all that you are and do. Your most important task in this life is to love yourself, admire yourself, be proud of yourself. Once you truly love yourself, you will be a healing presence in the world, and a bringer of peace wherever you go.

Learn to love yourself.

Love yourself.

Just do it!

Namaste. ~ Piero

December 10

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Look around with the eyes of the heart, see all the beauty that surrounds you.

Be amazed! Be grateful! Be happy!

Today is a good day to live the life you are meant to live.

Are you happy, content and satisfied?

Use your imagination. What an ideal life would look like for you? Take your time and write it down. Imagine. What an ideal world would look like for you? Think about your relationships, your professional life, your belongings, your activities, and your contributions to others. Think about the worlds, the way we treat one another, the way we treat the other sentient beings, and the way we treat the planet. What would make you happier? What would make you feel more fulfilled?

Now, convince yourself that this ideal reality already exists and is available to you, here-now. All you have to do is to find a way to leave the movie theater were you are watching the movie which is showing your current life, and go to the room next door where the movie of your perfect life is being played.

Think about it. Imagine it.

Just do it!

Enlarge Our Hearts

“What we would like to do is change the world — make it a little simpler for people to feed, clothe, and shelter themselves as God intended them to do. And, by fighting for better conditions, by crying out unceasingly for the rights of the workers, the poor, of the destitute — the rights of the worthy and the unworthy poor, in other words — we can, to a certain extent, change the world… We can throw our pebble in the pond and be confident that its ever widening circle will reach around the world. We repeat, there is nothing we can do but love, and, dear God, please enlarge our hearts to love each other, to love our neighbor, to love our enemy as our friend.”  ~ Dorothy Day

Dorothy Day

Yes! Yes! Yes! Great thoughts and inspired words. It pretty much summarizes it all! It tells us what our passage here on Earth should be about, not the empty, mindless existences that we see around us.

You Must Let It Find You

“Midway along the journey of our life
I woke to find myself in a dark wood,
for I had wandered off from the straight path.”

~ Dante Alighieri, Inferno

LOST

A young Indian asks an older member of the tribe “What do I do when I am lost in the forest?” The elder responds:

“Stand still. The trees ahead and the bushes beside you are not lost. Wherever you are is called Here, and you must treat it as a powerful stranger, must ask permission to know it and be known. The forest breathes. Listen. It answers, ‘I have made this place around you, if you leave it you may come back again, saying Here. No two trees are the same to Raven. No two branches are the same to Wren. If what a tree or a bush does is lost on you, you are surely lost. Stand still. The forest knows where you are. You must let it find you.’”

~ David Wagoner

><><><><

“Lost” by David Wagoner is a very popular poem. I first saw it in “The Heart Aroused: Poetry and the Preservation of the Soul in Corporate America” by David Whyte, a poet himself, whose work deeply influenced me. Poetry has the power to wake us up and bring our consciousness to a higher level.

Daily Reflections – Week 48

I hope you enjoy reflecting on these reflections. ~ Piero

November 27

November 27

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Slow down. Be patient. Be peaceful. Be grateful.

If we walk mindfully, every step will bring us to the here and the now, and will nourish and heal us. Every movement can reveal the Magic, Mystery and Miracles of the Universe if we move mindfully. Mindfulness allows us to see what we weren’t able to see before, when we were mindlessly rushing through life. Mindfulness can reveal Heaven right here on Earth. Mindfulness allows us see this beautiful Garden and this awesome Playground that were freely given to us. Then we can walk on top of this ground gently, carefully, feeling that everything is sacred, feeling that everyone is sacred, feeling that we are sacred.

Today is a good day to walk in silence in nature paying attention to the here and the now. Today is a good day to look deeply and understand. Today is a good day for a walking meditation.

Slow down. Be patient. Be peaceful. Be grateful. Be mindful. Be happy.

Know that you are loved.

Be amazed by all the beauty that surrounds you. Be grateful for all the gifts that the Universe gave and keeps giving you. Be happy.

Today, and every day, is a good day to practice mindfulness. Pause, observe, and ask yourself, “What am I thinking right now? What am I feeling right now? Am I paying attention to what is happening right now? Am I awake, alert and aware?”

Become the one who observes. Practice the CARR method which stands for ‘Catch, Acknowledge, Release and Return.’ Catch yourself when your mind is wandering. Catch the thought and emotion that is not related with what is happening in the here-now. Acknowledge that thought, with gentleness; do not simply push it away. After taking a good look at it, release it, and return to the present moment.

Do this often, many times during the day, and improve your life, and the lives of those around you.

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Today is a good day to observe everything that surrounds us with deep attention. Today, take time to pause whatever you may be doing, and observe. If you are walking, do it mindfully, and every now and then, stop and enjoy what is there. If you happen to be in nature, look attentively at the vegetation and the animal life. Let the flora and the fauna awaken you to the Magic, Mystery and Miracles of the Universe. Today, do everything in deep mindfulness. Live your moments in mindfulness. Pause, breath in and out, and enjoy what is around you. Say to yourself, “This present moment is a wonderful moment!”

Be amazed! Be grateful! Be happy!

Do this, nourish yourself, and become a more joyful and peaceful person. Harness an energy that will transform and heal not only you, but the world around you.

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Look around and see all the Magic, Mystery and Miracles that surround you.

Be amazed! Be grateful! be happy!

Today is a good day to listen to your inner voice and allow yourself to be used by the Mighty Energy to bring about what the world needs.

Prepare yourself diligently to be the best that you can be, and to give the best contributions you can give, but once the music (or the dance, or the game, or the action) begins, listen to voice of the Universe, surrender control, and let the Spirit guide you. Free yourself from pre-established plans, step aside, and let the Spirit lead. Let yourself be used by the Life Force to bring whatever must be brought into the world.

In challenging moments, pause, and ask yourself what your heroes would do: “What would Gandhi do? What would Martin Luther King, Jr. do? What would Peace Pilgrim do? What would Superman do?” Listen to their advice.

Let others inspire you, but be your own unique you. Do not try to be someone else. If you try, you will fail, because the only person you can be is you.

Express yourself. Create what is uniquely yours, and let your life be your greatest work of art.

Just do it!

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Look around with the eyes that see beyond the visible, and see all the Magic, Mystery and Miracles that surround us.

Be amazed! Be grateful! Be happy!

Today is a good day to live in the present moment.

Plan your work and work your plan. Pause often, at least for a few moments every hour, to observe your thoughts and emotions. Catch, acknowledge, and release those that have nothing to do with the present moment, and return your attention to the here-now, practicing to stay centered, calm, and to do one focused thing at a time.

Just do this, and experience an improvement in the quality of your life.

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Look around with the eyes of the heart and see all the Magic, Mystery and Miracles that surround you.

Today is a good day to realize that the world has changed, is changing, and will continue to change for the better, and that there will always be infinite possibilities to create an even better future.

Do not allow pessimistic views of the future to take you over. Imagine a brighter tomorrow and spread this optimistic vision to every person you meet.

Heaven is here, if we want it to be!

Planet Earth is a beautiful Garden and an awesome Playground. Enjoy the beauty of the Garden and have fun in the Playground. And give your contribution to improve both, making the Garden even more beautiful and the Playground even more fun. Just do it!

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Did you take the time to observe and acknowledge the gifts that the Universe has given you? Can you see the beauty? Can you see the Magic, Mystery and Miracles?

Be amazed! Be grateful! Be happy!

Today is a good day to plan your work and work your plan, and to do all this mindfully, with great awareness.

Before you begin to perform the activities of your day, take time to think about all the things you want to do and have to do, and define your priorities. Do this mindfully, paying attention to the process. Then, set the intention that you will practice the art of mindful living today. Commit to stay in the present moment, awake, aware, alert and fully alive, paying attention to everything you do.

Just do it, and enhance the quality of your life.

What Do I Desire?

“‘What do you desire? What makes you itch? What sort of a situation would you like?’ Let’s suppose, I do this often in vocational guidance of students, they come to me and say, ‘Well, we’re getting out of college and we have the faintest idea what we want to do.’ So I always ask the question: ‘What would you like to do if money were no object? How would you really enjoy spending your life?’ Well — it’s so amazing — as the result of our kind of educational system, crowds of students say, ‘Well, we’d like to be painters, we’d like to be poets, we’d like to be writers. But as everybody knows you can’t earn any money that way!’ Another person says ‘Well, I’d like to live an out-of-door’s life and ride horses.’ I say, ‘You wanna teach in a riding school?’

Let’s go through with it. What do you want to do? When we finally got down to something which the individual says he really wants to do I will say to him ‘You do that! And forget the money! Because if you say that getting the money is the most important thing you will spend your life completely wasting your time! You’ll be doing things you don’t like doing in order to go on living – that is to go on doing things you don’t like doing, which is stupid! Better to have a short life that is full of which you like doing then a long life spent in a miserable way. And after all, if you do really like what you are doing – it doesn’t really matter what it is – you can eventually become a master of it. It’s the only way of becoming the master of something: to be really with it. And then you will be able to get a good fee for whatever it is. So don’t worry too much. Somebody is interested in everything; anything you can be interested in, you’ll find others who are.

But it’s absolutely stupid to spend your time doing things you don’t like in order to go on spending on things you don’t like, doing things you don’t like and to teach our children to follow the same track. See, what we are doing is we are bringing up children and educating to live the same sort of lives we are living. In order they may justify themselves and find satisfaction in life by bringing up their children to bring up their children to do the same thing. So it’s all retch and no vomit – it never gets there! And so therefore it’s so important to consider this question:

What do I desire?'” ~ Alan Watts

Alan Wilson Watts (6 January 1915 – 16 November 1973) was a British-born American philosopher, writer, and speaker, best known as an interpreter and populariser of Eastern philosophy for a Western audience. Born in Chislehurst, England, he moved to the United States in 1938 and began Zen training in New York. Pursuing a career, he attended Seabury-Western Theological Seminary, where he received a master’s degree in theology. Watts became an Episcopal priest in 1945, then left the ministry in 1950 and moved to California, where he joined the faculty of the American Academy of Asian Studies.

Watts gained a large following in the San Francisco Bay Area while working as a volunteer programmer at KPFA, a Pacifica Radio station in Berkeley. Watts wrote more than 25 books and articles on subjects important to Eastern and Western religion, introducing the then-burgeoning youth culture to “The Way of Zen” (1957), one of the first bestselling books on Buddhism. In “Psychotherapy East and West” (1961), Watts proposed that Buddhism could be thought of as a form of psychotherapy and not a religion. He considered “Nature, Man, and Woman” (1958) to be, “from a literary point of view – the best book I have ever written.” He also explored human consciousness, in the essay “The New Alchemy” (1958), and in the book “The Joyous Cosmology” (1962).

Towards the end of his life, he divided his time between a houseboat in Sausalito and a cabin on Mount Tamalpais. Many of his books are now available in digital format and many of his recorded talks and lectures are available on the Internet. According to the critic Erik Davis, his “writings and recorded talks still shimmer with a profound and galvanizing lucidity.”

Finding Piero

“Finding Joe,” a film by Patrick Takaya Solomon, is one of my preferred documentaries. Based on Joseph Campbell’s work, it is a master class on the hero’s way of living a meaningful life. I savor each single passage of this beautiful movie. Getting to know and understand the “Hero’s Journey” impacted my way of being deeply. It changed me. It changed my life. “Finding Joe” helped me find my own self, and for that I am immensely thankful.

http://findingjoethemovie.com/

Joseph Campbell’s famous discovery, the hero’s journey, is thoroughly explored in the film Finding Joe. This documentary takes us on a magical journey through the human psyche and on to Joseph Campbell’s most important teaching of all: follow your bliss.

The Hero’s Journey, for me, is having the courage to look within yourself, and say, “What am I here to do? What am I most passionate about in my life? What are my greatest gifts? How do I give them to the world?” ~ Brian Johnson

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on December 10, 1948. It came about from the tragic experiences of the Second World War. With the end of that war, and the creation of the United Nations, the international community vowed to not allow the atrocities that happened in that conflict to ever happen again.

PREAMBLE

Whereas recognition of the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world,

Whereas disregard and contempt for human rights have resulted in barbarous acts which have outraged the conscience of mankind, and the advent of a world in which human beings shall enjoy freedom of speech and belief and freedom from fear and want has been proclaimed as the highest aspiration of the common people,

Whereas it is essential, if man is not to be compelled to have recourse, as a last resort, to rebellion against tyranny and oppression, that human rights should be protected by the rule of law,

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Did you take the time to observe the weather today? Every day the weather is different, isn’t it? Can you see the beauty in it? Can you see the Magic, Mystery and Miracles?

Be amazed! Be grateful! Be happy!

Today is a good day to adopt a new paradigm that will bring lasting peace to Earth.

Let’s convince ourselves that we live in a world of abundance where everyone can have a dignified and worry-free life, where the basic needs of every single individual in our planet can be met.

Let us convince ourselves that there is more than enough for everybody to live a healthy, safe, and productive life.

Let us convince ourselves that there will always be enough, that we will always be taken good care of, and that there’s no need to be afraid and accumulate.

Let us convince ourselves that we don’t have to deprive others of their share in order for us to have a bigger share.

Let us convince ourselves that depriving others from having a happy livelihood will not make us any happier, so let us be honest and vastly generous in all our transactions with others.

Let us convince ourselves that any form of oppression and exploitation brings about pain and instability, and that we, directly or indirectly, are also benefiting from injustices that are taking place in the world.

Let us convince ourselves that it is on everyone’s best interest to promote social justice, because justice precedes peace.

Let us convince ourselves, once and for all, as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, that “injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”

Let us put an end to violence by putting an end to poverty.

Let’s adopt a new paradigm for a new world.

Let us live as we want to live, and allow others to live as they want to live.

Let us strive to be the best that we can be, and let us support others on their journeys, so they too can be the best that they can be.

Let us be the agents of change, the ones who will bring Heaven to Earth.

We can do it!

Let’s do it!

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Look around with the eyes of the heart, and see all the Magic, Mystery and Miracles that surround us.

Be amazed! Be grateful! Be happy!

Today is a good day to reflect on those magic, mysterious, and miraculous encounters.

Sometimes we meet people whose eyes communicate unspoken messages of affection for us. Sometimes we meet people whose sweetness and tenderness melts all resistance in us. Sometimes we meet people we feel a profound and loving connection with. Sometimes we meet those beautiful souls whom we want to hug, hoping we can stay silently nested in each other’s arms forever.

Life is more than what we are able to see. Life is more than what we are able to apprehend with our physical senses.

Have we met before? Where? Have we met in other dimensions, other times, other spaces? Why do I feel that I know you, and that you know me? Why do I feel that you need my love and affection, and that I need yours? Are we long time friends, or lovers? Do you have a message for me, and do I have one for you? Have we met to remind each other that life is more? Or have we met just to remind each other of whom we really are and what we came here to be?

Magic, Mystery, Miracles!

I thank you for the gift.

Know that you are loved.

Namaste! ~ Piero

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Did you take the time to observe the weather today? Every day the weather is different, isn’t it? Can you see the beauty in it, day after day? Can you see the Magic, Mystery and Miracles in it?

Be amazed! Be grateful! Be happy!

It takes time for people to understand that “life is more than we are able to comprehend with our limited senses.” Life is a divine gift that we must cherish and celebrate. Once we undergo a radical personal transformation — one that tames our egos and selfish instincts, expands our vision, and allows us to see differently — we are blessed with those epiphanies and revelations that show us that we are spiritual beings having human experiences. We understand that we are, at the same time, human and divine, mortal and immortal, separated and united, many and one. We understand that this physical life is just a brief passage when we are given opportunities to learn to be kind. This realization develops in us a deep desire for unity and peace. We grow in empathy and compassion, and the Golden Rule becomes inescapable; to do the best we can for others becomes our inexorable mandate, because we understand that what we do to and for others, we do to and for our own selves.

Then all this loyalty to tribes of all types, such as nations, religions, races, heritages, ideologies, and so on and so forth, makes no sense. We come to the realization that separating ourselves from others, dividing ourselves in tribes, isolating ourselves, competing instead of cooperating with others, excluding others, and trying to forcefully impose our views and beliefs on others who don’t see and think like we do is plain madness. We realize that this has been the main cause of the pain and suffering that we have been bringing upon our own selves since the beginning of humanity’s existence.

Once and for all we have to realize that we are all human beings and Planet Earth is our common home. We don’t need to defend or attack. We can simply live, helping one another so we all can live live good lives. Then we, all sentient beings, will be able to become playmates, and enjoy this beautiful garden and awesome playground that God gave us. Then we will be able to happily share our toys, and understand that we are happier when we make others happy. Then we will take care of one another and support each other to become the best that we can be. This will be the day when we will bring Heaven to Earth, and I am convinced that this day will come.

Let’s adopt a new paradigm for a new world. Let us be the agents of change, the ones who will bring Heaven to Earth.

We can do it! And we will do it! Let’s do it!

Namaste. ~ Piero

“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”
~ an excerpt from “The New Colossus,” a sonnet by American poet Emma Lazarus (1849–1887), written in 1883. In 1903, the poem was engraved on a bronze plaque and mounted inside the lower level of the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty.

November 23

November 23

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Let us look at the beauty that surrounds us. Let us observe the leaves dancing with the breeze, and notice the sun illuminating everything and revealing miracles. Let us give thanks for all the gifts that were given to us! Let us be happy!

Today is a good day to think about curiosity, connection and cooperation.

We are, by nature, curious beings. We want to explore, investigate, experience and learn. We want to experience connection, communication and communion with others and with everything in the Universe. We want to experience our oneness, which is our true, spiritual nature. We want to feel that we are one.

The moment we begin to believe that we know everything that there is to be known – the moment we begin to believe that once we saw one tree, we saw them all — and we lose enthusiasm to investigate, experience and learn new things, we begin to die. Also, the more we compete with others and isolate ourselves — the less vital we become.

Do you want to be healthy and live a long and joyful life? Follow your bliss. Go do what makes you come alive. Go do those things that excite you, make you happy, and immerse you in the moment to such a degree that you lose the sense of time. Explore, investigate, experience and learn.

Surround yourself with life-loving people and cooperate with them. Competition isolates us, but cooperation brings us together, and expands the quality of our lives. Live in communities where people get together, socialize often, and cooperate with one another. Stay away from environments that emphasize competition, individualism, selfishness and egoism, and that assigns one’s worth by the capacity to defeat others. Connect, communicate, commune and cooperate.

Just do it, and enhance the quality of your life and your longevity!

Namaste. ~ Piero

Just a reminder… Go and hug a tree today. Hug your friends too,

November 24

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Look around and see all the Magic, Mystery and Miracles that surround us.

Be amazed! Be grateful! Be happy!

Today is a good day to ask yourself, “What can I do to make the world a better place?”

Begin with your own self. Engage in a practice of silence. Meditate regularly. Figure out who you really are and what you came here to do. Life is too short to waste time doing what you are not meant to do. Avoid becoming a bitter person who hates himself because he knows he is not living the life he was meant to live, or he is not doing what he was brought here to do. Be authentic and honest with yourself. Do what you like and like what you do. Follow your bliss. Apply yourself to be the best that you can be, so you can give your best possible contribution to the world. This will make you happy, and you have to be happy if you want to spread happiness.

Help other people on their journeys. Help them figure out who they really are, and what they are supposed to do. Teach them to find their inner voice in silence and solitude. Support them so they can develop their skills and become the best version of themselves. Help them find the places and organizations where they may be able to fully use their talents to give the best contributions they can give to humanity. People who find their niches, and who see the role they play as contributors in the grand scheme of things, are happy and peaceful.

Learn and teach how to communicate and solve conflicts is a respectful, nonviolent way. Learn and teach others to look deeply and see real individuals and not come to hurried and simplistic conclusions about them based on the tribes they may be members of. Extend yourself and go meet and make friends with people beyond the boundaries of your tribe, and encourage others to do the same.

Do this, and make the world a better place!

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Look around with the eyes of the heart and see all the beauty of the Universe. Isn’t it amazing? Be grateful for all the gifts that life gives freely to you! Be happy!

Today is a good day to reflect on all the power we have, the inner power, the power of a centered and balanced person, the power that allows one to control the dimensions of time and space and makes time to stop from running, the power that allows one to control the space between stimuli and responses, the power to be the master of your own chosen responses.

We all have this power. It is in all of us. Some of us will go through life and never develop it, but a few will. Be one of those few. Apply yourself. Get in touch with your inner voice. Discover who you really are, and what you came to this planet to do during your lifetime. Apply yourself, become the best you can be, and become a true blessing to the world. Develop the power to be the one who chooses your responses. Reflect deeply. Let your decisions be based on sound principles. Develop your skills, unleash your talents, and give your best contributions to the world! Live a life that you may be always proud of.

Just do it!

You will be surprised by the power you — a single individual — can harness when you choose to apply yourself to be who you are meant to be. You will be amazed by the immense influence you will have on others and on the entire world, when you are authentic, and choose principle-based responses that honestly reflect who you are.

“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space lies our freedom and power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and freedom.” ~ Viktor E. Frankl

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

There is beauty all around us!

Be amazed! Be grateful! Be happy!

Today is a good day to remember that gratitude is the key that unlocks the gates to the kingdom of happiness.

Do you want to be happy? If so, be grateful.

Give thanks for everything today. Stay in the present moment, acknowledging all your blessings and being grateful for all that you have. Don’t ask for anything today. Don’t desire anything to be different from what it is today. Be happy with whom you are, with what you do, and what you have. Give thanks for everything and complain about nothing today. Be amazed with all the blessings that surround you! Be grateful for all the gifts that the Universe gave and keeps giving you! Be happy!

Just be!

Namaste! ~ Piero

Walter Mitty’s Call to Adventure

The Hero’s Journey.

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013) is one of my preferred movies, not only because it is extraordinarily great in so many aspects, but because I extract great joy from identifying many of the elements of Joseph Campbell’s Hero’s Journey in it.

I love, for instance, how the predominant colors in the movie change from dull to vibrant the moment Walter accepts the call and embarks in the adventure of following his bliss.

Brilliant!

“A moment comes when you stop dreaming, start living and discover your destiny. An inspiring story about an ordinary man who leaps into the extraordinary adventure that is life.” ~ The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
