Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Look around and see all the beauty that surrounds us.

Be amazed! Be grateful! Be happy!

Today is a good day to understand that a clean conscience is our most valuable possession.

With the passage of the years, a time will come when we will be more aware of our inescapable death. With death approaching, we will be looking back at our lives, revisiting what we have done, and what we have failed to do. As we become more mindful that the end of our existence in physical form is inevitable, memories of misdeeds we perpetrated, and of pain and suffering we inflicted upon others, will come to haunt and torment us. At that time, we will understand that not a single one of our material belongings — the ones we struggled so arduously to obtain — will be more valuable than a clean conscience of having lived an honorable life.
Choose wisely! Live a decent, noble, righteous and principled life. Cultivate a life that will grant you peace of mind at the end of your days. Be honest, kind, gentle, generous, patient, loving, giving, and forgiving. Alleviate someone else’s suffering. And if you haven’t done that yet, start now!
Just do it!

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Go to the center of your being, to your place of peace, and give yourself the gift of rest. Enjoy the silence, the stillness, the present moment. Find peace in the here-now, and just rest.

Look around with the eyes of the heart and see all the Magic, Mystery, and Miracles.

Be amazed with it all! Be grateful for all the gifts! Be happy!

Today is a good day to think about the extremes and the center.

There is sadness and happiness. There is despair and hope. There is pessimism and optimism. And there is something in between. What is it?

There are endings and beginnings, departures and arrivals, past and future, hatred and love, negative and positive, darkness and light. There is this, there is that, and there is an indivisible whole.

Between the extremes, there is nothing, and there is everything. Between the extremes we find our journey, the present moment, a neutral and passionless state, a space between two worlds. Between the extremes, we find the middle, the center, the balance. Between the extremes, we find peace.

Be aware of your emotions, and know that the awareness of the extremes, and of the center, can enhance the quality of your life.

Live mindfully, and choose the middle way.

Just do it!

Today is a good day to think about how thoughts influence reality.

Every creation starts with thoughts, with visions, with imagination; what we think, we create.

If we keep thinking and talking about a doomy future for humanity, we are, unknowingly and involuntarily, helping to create it. On the other hand, if we envision an harmonious and peaceful world, where everybody lives with dignity, helps one another, and gives their best contributions to make it even better, we will be helping to create it.

Let us be optimistic, and dream of beautiful tomorrows. Let us believe in a wonderful future for mankind. Let us believe in our ability and capacity to create it. Let us send those optimistic visions out into the world. Let us help people imagine, envision, and believe in them.

Be aware of your thoughts. Be aware of the messages you are receiving and sending out.

We are all responsible for the world we live in because we are creating this world with every thought, word, and action.

Spread good news. Spread visions of a beautiful future. Help people see possibilities. Help people see that we already live in a beautiful and abundant Garden and in an amazing Playground, and that we can organize ourselves to live on this planet in ways that will make the existence of every single sentient being a joyful one.

Help people see that this is Heaven, if we want it to be.

Just do it!

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Look around with the eyes of the heart and see all the Magic, Mystery and Miracles that surround you. Beauty is everywhere!

Be amazed! Be grateful! Be happy!

Today is a good day to practice mindfulness.

Start your day with meditation. Sit down in a comfortable position, preferably with your back straight and your feet flat on the floor, close your eyes, and observe your breathing. Feel the air entering and leaving your body. Don’t try to control your breathing; just observe it. As you do it, your mind will eventually drift away from observing; you will be thinking. Your job is to catch yourself thinking, acknowledge your thoughts, and gently release them while returning your attention to your breathing. I call it the CARR technique: Catch, Acknowledge, Release, Return.

Meditation — the practice of remaining silent and still — is an exercise of focused attention that allows us to become aware of the ever-present undercurrent of thoughts. As we go about our days, thoughts from this undercurrent emerge and occupy our minds. The majority of those thoughts have nothing to do with what we may be actually doing in the present moment; they are mainly memories and imaginations, regrets and worries. With practice, we become better able to identify those distracting thoughts and their associated emotions.

Our job is to be awake, aware, and alert, in order to be fully alive. So, practice to catch the distracting thoughts and emotions, acknowledge them, release them, and return to the here-now. Practice CARR, and become a master in the art of mindfulness, the art of living mindfully.

Just do it, and enhance the quality of your life!

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Look around with the eyes of the heart and see all the Magic, Mystery and Miracles that surround you.

Be amazed! Be grateful! Be happy!

Today is a good day to think about the impermanence of all things, and about our own physical death. Today is a good day to assess if we are walking the right path during our journey here on this planet. Today is a good day to take time to evaluate if we are choosing wisely.

Realize that life is short and goes by fast. Find, if you haven’t yet, your own answers to the four fundamental questions: “Who am I? What do I love? How do I live knowing that I will die? What are my gifts for the family of the Earth?” Don’t waste any more time. Be who you are meant to be. Do what you are meant to do. Be honest and authentic. Follow your bliss.

Our job is to get to the end of our days with a clean conscience, enjoying peace of mind. So, listen to the guidance of Death, the wisest counselor: “Get your affairs in order. Get rid of the clutter. Simplify your life. Don’t inflict suffering on anyone. Don’t get angry. Settle old quarrels, and make peace. Ask for forgiveness. Make amends. Tell people you love that you love them, and do this all the time. Find joy in the simplest things. Be grateful. Don’t worry. Be fearless. Be kind. Alleviate other people’s suffering. Be optimistic and spread optimism. Make the world better. Enjoy the Garden. Have fun in the Playground. Share your toys. Be the herald of good news and a brighter future for all. Let people see that this is Heaven, if we want it to be. Live fully. Love wastefully. Laugh unboundedly. Learn unceasingly. Leave an honorable legacy. Be remembered as a joyful person. Stop sleepwalking through life. Be awake, aware, alert, and fully alive. Be here-now.”

Just do it!

September 16

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Look around. Look at things as if you were a newborn,  seeing them for the first time. Look as you imagine a baby would look. Look as if you were blind and suddenly gained sight. See beyond what you see. See all the Magic, all the Mystery, and all the Miracles in this Universe.

Be amazed with the wonder of it all! Be grateful for all the beauty that surrounds you! Be happy!

Today is a good day to reflect on this idea that we call Ego.

The ego is the perception that we have of ourselves. This idea gets strength from the stories we tell about ourselves and others tell about us. The identification with the ego leads to a feeling of separation from others; in our minds, we become individuals who are separated from others and are in competition with others. Our culture strengthens this further by encouraging us to compete, to be better than others, to win, to be “number one.” The identification with the ego brings about the impulse to compare ourselves with others. Concepts of “I, Me, My, Mine, Myself, my body, my club, my school, my team, my friends, my family, my church, my religion, my faith, my country, my ideology” grow stronger, and we go through life separating ourselves from others, separating those who are with us from those we believe belong to other tribes and, therefore, are against us.

We enter a trance in which we believe that our bodies, our stories, our possessions, our prestige, is who we are. We come to believe that we are what we own, and what we own provides references for us to build images of who we are, and understand who we are. Consequently, we become very territorial, very possessive, very selfish, very defensive of what we own. Fear, envy, hatred, anger, revenge, and all the many ill feelings against others emerge from this over-identification with the ego.

But is there an alternative? Who are we if we are not the image that we have of ourselves? If we are not our bodies, if we are not our names, If we are not our many roles in life, if we are not our accomplishments, if we are not the stories of our lives, if we are not the marks we have left, and expect to leave during our journeys through this life, if we are not all the many things and events attached to “I, Me, Mine, My, Myself,” then who are we? If all these things are stripped from us, what is left?

Take a moment to contemplate the idea that we don’t own anything, and that all in life is a momentary experience. Can you internalize the idea, “I don’t own anything. We don’t own anything. No one owns anything. All is impermanent, all is transient, all is temporary. Everything is just a momentary experience.”

For me, life is a journey of learning, and maybe the main lesson we must learn during this life is to be less self-centered, less egocentric.

Many people, as they go through life, move from selfishness to selflessness. This, for me, is a sign of evolution, of progressing on a path of maturity. Unfortunately, there are many who do not evolve, and stay dominated by their egos that seem to get bigger as time goes by; they keep acting in a very selfish, immature way, and are unable to consider how what they think, say, and do, affect others. They usually amass great earthly power, but their immaturity ends up bringing a lot of pain and suffering into the world.

Take some time today to think about your own journey. Are you making progress? Are you moving in the direction of selflessness? Are you evolving, or are you still the kid that needs more toys and is unable to share them?

Ask yourself, “Who am I if I am not my ego?”

Ask Death, the wisest counselor, for advice.

Just do it! And know that there is ultimate liberation, joy, and serenity for those able to internalize the concept that we are not who we think we are.

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

The celestial bodies continue dancing through the cosmos and here we are in this beautiful planet of ours. It’s magical, it’s mysterious, it’s miraculous, isn’t it?

Be amazed! Be grateful! Be happy!

Today is a good day to think about what we are doing here, and what our purpose in this life is.

I believe that the ultimate reason to live is to serve. Once we progress on our spiritual journey — once we move away from selfishness and come closer to selflessness — we feel the common humanity and divinity in us all. We understand that we are a piece of something much larger. We understand that we are, at the same time, separated and united, many and one, and that what we do to others, we do to our own selves.

Take some time, today, to ask yourself these questions: “Am I compassionate? What am I doing for others? What am I doing for the betterment of the the lives of others, particularly the minorities? What am I doing for the poor and the powerless, the marginalized and the ostracized, the oppressed and the exploited, the discriminated and the forgotten? What am I doing so others can live fully? Do I have compassion for them in my heart? What am I doing for justice, equality, tolerance, acceptance, understanding, unity, and peace?”

If you haven’t been doing anything, start now. Use the talents and skills that were given to you and alleviate the pain and suffering in the world. The world needs you. The world has been waiting for you.

Just do it! Now!

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it? Look around and see beyond what you see. Be amazed with the beauty! Be grateful with the gifts! Be happy with the journey!

Today is s good day to imagine what you will leave behind after you leave this physical dimension.

Will you leave peace and harmony? Or will you leave conflict and discord?

What seeds are you planting? What fruits will your trees bear?

You are the gardener. Make sure you sow love. Prepare the soil, plant good seeds, water the plants, remove the weeds, harvest the good fruits while you are alive, and leave trees that bear the same good fruits for those who will still be around after you leave.

Make sure yours will be a legacy of understanding, compassion, generosity, peace and love.

Just do it!

Look around with the eyes of the heart and see beyond what you see. Look at the big and the small. Look at what is near and what is far. See Beauty. See Magic. See Mystery. See Miracles.

Be amazed! Be grateful! Be happy!

Today is a good day to listen to Death. Listen! Listen to her whispers beyond the noises. Listen as she invites you to ask yourself: “Who am I? What do I love? How do I live knowing that I will die? What are my gifts to the family of the earth?”

Listen to Death, the wisest counselor. Listen as she advises you: “Simplify. Don’t accumulate. Keep only what you use. Get your affairs in order. Promote peace. Create environments of nonviolent communication and deep understanding. Don’t postpone the enjoyment of life. Make each moment count. Be here, now. Pay attention. Be alert. Infuse each moment with a dose of refinement and elegance. Make of your life your work of art. Do what you want to do. Live the experiences you want to live. Live fully. Love wastefully. Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it? There’s beauty to be seen by those who have eyes to see. Magic, Mystery and Miracles are everywhere. Look, see, and be amazed, grateful, and happy!

Today is a good day to reflect on the impermanence of all things.

Earth is a like a huge passenger terminal, a big bus or train station, a large port or airport. Life is made of departures and arrivals, goodbyes and hellos. We are happy with the arrivals, and sad with the departures. But let us remember that every “Hello” is followed by a “Goodbye,” and every “Goodbye” is followed by a “Hello.” Nothing lasts forever. Every end will be followed by a new beginning. Every death will be followed by birth. The wheel doesn’t stop; it keeps on circling.

“Hello. Welcome. Goodbye. Farewell.”

Today is a good day to see life as a simple visit, a passage, a time that will eventually end, and when we will realize that issues we thought were highly important, in fact, were insignificant, and that all the drama, actually, was a total waste of life.

Have a good time, enjoy your stay, and make others feel good. Leave good memories of your visit in the minds of those who shared time with you.

Do it!

Just do it!

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it? The sun is out again, bringing warmth and life. The planet is still spinning and traveling through the cosmos. We are surrounded by wonder. Be amazed, grateful and happy!

Today is a good day to reflect on the mystery of time.

Think about meeting old friends, who you haven’t seen in decades, and how everything unfolds as if you have always been together. For some things time seemingly does not pass, and for others it pass too fast. That’s why enjoying the present is so important.

Since a good life is a collection of good moments, make of each moment a good one.

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Look at the beauty around you and be amazed, grateful and happy!

Things are not always as smooth as we would like them to be, right? Many times we face obstacles on our path, and we have to be patient and deal with them. Can you see wonder and be grateful even when something bad happens? Can you come back to the here-now and see the good beyond the bad? Can you be grateful that nothing worse happened?

Remember, in the end, everything will be OK, and if it is not OK now, it is just because it is not the end.

Believe! Nothing is that important!

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Go to the center of your being, to your place of peace, and rest for a while. Give yourself this gift. Rest. Enjoy the silence, the stillness. Bring yourself back to the here-now, and rest in the total awareness of this moment. Enjoy the present moment and forget the past, and don’t anticipate the future. Rest. Let go of worries, pre-occupations, anger, hatred, regret, remorse, guilt. Rest. Stay in the present with the present. Rest. Find peace in the here-now. Just rest.

Now, look around with the eyes of the heart and see all the beauty that surrounds you. There’s Magic, Mystery and Miracles all around us, right? Be amazed with it all! Be grateful for all the gifts that were given to us! Be happy!

Today is a good day to think about the wisdom contained in living by the Golden Rule. Do to others what you would like others to do to you, and don’t do to others what you wouldn’t want people to do to you.

Be kind, generous and patient.

Consider your thoughts, words and actions, and always try to feel how others will feel. Ask yourself, “How will my actions affect others? How will others feel? How are my thoughts, words and actions going to affect me? How am I going to feel at the end of my days? Will I have a clean conscience, or will I be full of remorse?” Choose what contributes to the greater good. Choose what alleviates suffering. Choose what will give you peace of mind.

Choose wisely! Live by the Golden Rule. And remember the Law of Karma: what goes around, comes around.

Just do it!

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it?

Look around and see all the beauty that surrounds you. Look with the eyes of the heart and see beyond what you were able to see before. There is Magic, Mystery, and Miracles everywhere.

Be amazed! Be grateful! Be happy!

Today’s a good day to understand the immense value of acceptance. Today is a good day to practice the art of surrendering.

If things are not the way you want them to be, learn not to get upset. Refuse engaging in a fight. Accept the situation. Surrender.

There is wisdom in accepting what you cannot change. There is wisdom is not opposing a force, since opposing does not dilute that force. In fact, fighting back has the opposite effect; it makes that force get more organized and grow in strength. Many times, the best move is to step aside, and ignore.

Learn the value of acceptance, practice the art of surrendering, and enhance the quality of your life.

Just do it!

August 29

August 29

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it? Look around with the eyes of the heart and see all the beauty that surrounds us. Aren’t we blessed to be alive in such a wonderful place?

Be amazed! Be grateful! Be happy!

Today is a good day to engage in a discipline of daily creation and appreciation.

We are creators by nature. We are called to create.

Give expression to your urge to create today and everyday. Write a song everyday. Paint a picture everyday. Write a poem everyday. Put your fingers in the wet clay and give shape to something everyday. Lay some bricks everyday. Cook everyday. Dance everyday. Sculpt everyday. Create something everyday.

Don’t inhibit yourself. Don’t censor yourself. It doesn’t have to be a masterpiece. Give the little child inside yourself — the inhibited and uncensored creator — plenty of freedom to do whatever she wants to do.

Infuse everything you do today with attention, refinement, and elegance. Make of your daily living a work of art. No matter what you do, treat it as a creative expression. Walk with art. Comb your hair with art. Drink your beverage with art.

Bring your attention to the here-now. Live mindfully in the present moment. Be aware, awake and alert. Be fully alive.

And, finally, realize that if you are in the right place, with the right heart, you are not the one who is creating; you are simply allowing the Forces of the Universe to create through you. So, surrender and allow. See yourself as a conduit. Clean your duct and allow the Inspired Creative Force to flow freely through you and manifest its creations on this physical dimension through you. You are not the creator, so don’t put too much pressure on you, and don’t give yourself too much importance either. Don’t aggrandize your ego with the praise you may receive for your best creations, and don’t take criticism for your poor creations personally. Don’t let anyone squash your self-esteem. You are not the creator; at the most, you are a co-creator. Do you get it? So, good or bad, it doesn’t matter. Create everyday! This is the lesson to be learned and practiced today and everyday.

Your expression is your gift to the world. It is through your expression that you connect with others. It is through your expression that other people will experience a heightened sensibility and will develop a sensibility that will impulse them to connect with you and others. Your creative expression creates a way for people to connect with each other at the heart level. Creation adds to the abundance of the Universe and proves its inexhaustibility.

Create something today. Appreciate someone else’s creation today. Allow the Forces of the Universe to create something through you today. Appreciate what the Forces of the Universe have created through others today.

Connect and experience oneness through art today.

Just do it!

Good morning!

Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it? Look around and see all the Magic, Mystery and Miracles that are all around you. Look and see beyond what you see. Beauty!

Be amazed! Be grateful! Be happy!

The night wisely retreats, allowing the day to take over, knowing that in a matter of hours she will be in charge again. Night and day respect the agreement they have made, and they keep operating without tension or conflict; everyday, at the agreed time, they surrender control and allow the other to take over.

Today is a good day to reflect on doing our part, surrendering control, and gracefully allowing and rejoicing with the cycles of life.

During our lifetime, we must do what we have been called to do, not more, not less. We all are going to be here on this Earth for a limited amount of time, and just like the sun, we will appear and disappear, rise and fall. The night replaces the day, and the day replaces the night. We exist and then we cease to exist in this physical dimension.

What were we brought here to do? Who were we brought here to be? We better figure this out because we are only existing on this Earth for a short while.

If you are unsure of what you are meant to do during this lifetime, and if you don’t know who you are meant to be, ask Death, the wisest counselor. It will tell you to go to the silence and solitude and listen. It will tell you to simplify your life, to pay attention, be alert, and live in the moment. It will tell you to be compassionate, kind, and generous. It will inspire you to ask yourself, “How can I be of service?” It will tell you that worrying is futile, and that anger is pointless. It will tell you not to waste any more time, and put yourself in motion to be who you are meant to be. It will tell you to do what you are meant to do. It will remind you to use your talents to give the unique contributions that only you can give. It will remind you to enjoy the beauty of the Garden and have fun in this awesome Playground that was given to us. It will advise you to share your toys, and enhance your enjoyment by making the time others spend in the Playground more enjoyable.

Death will tell you to make of your life, of the way you live, of the choices you make, of the way you love, your legacy, your work of art, your masterpiece. Death will remind you that what you do does not matter as much as the love you put into the doing. Death will remind you that you cannot take anything material with you when you depart from this physical dimension, and invite you to reflect on the drive to accumulate possessions and the price you pay for it. Death will remind you of the virtues of living a simple, uncomplicated, uncluttered life. Death will remind you that she eventually will come to visit and take you with her.

Death will tell you to live fully, to love wastefully, to learn unceasingly, to laugh unboundedly, and to leave an honorable legacy.

Listen to Death. Do your part. Keep the agreement. Surrender control. Get ready. Transition gracefully. Remember that the sun will come up again.

Just do it!

Today is a good day to practice the kind of communication that brings about mutual understanding and peace.

There’s nothing we all want more than to be heard and understood. So, give of yourself. Be generous. Seek first to understand, then to be understood. Make others feel that they were understood. And then, they will take the time to listen to what you have to say.

Listen first. Then listen some more. And only then, speak.
