Daily Reflections – Week 16

April 17

April 17. Good morning! Today is a another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it? I invite you to go to the center of your being and give thanks. Notice the Magic, the Mystery, and the Miracles that surround you, and give thanks. Today is a good day to think about your work and your creation. If you are a musician, remember the musicians who came before you. If you are a teacher, remember the teachers who came before you. If you are a pacifist, remember the pacifists who came before you. Remember their love and steadfast dedication to their crafts and causes. Remember how much they gave of themselves, and be grateful. Your responsibility is to honor their work and their legacy. Your job is to connect, communicate, and commune with those masters who came before you, and make of them your invisible, ever present mentors. Your job is to learn how to connect with the same inexhaustible Source of Creation and allow it to manifest beautiful creations through you, just as they did. Those who came before you are happy that you are continuing their work, the work to which they gave so much. They smile. They bless you with the energy of enlightened beings. Can you feel their blessings? Can you receive their inspiration? If so, you can’t go wrong. Ask those who preceded you to provide you with guidance and advice, and be amazed by how generously and happily they will help you. They are your advisory board. They are your counselors. Your only job is to keep your ego out of the equation and develop a giving attitude. Know who you are and what moves you. Maintain your intentions pure. Be honest and authentic. Approach your work with reverence; remember that you are dealing with sacred matter. Go forth, be generous, and bless the world with the creation that will manifest itself through you, the unique creation that only can come to light through you. Namaste. ~ Piero

Here’s an example. Let this inspire you. Think of what inspired him. Think about his connection with the Source of Creation. Think about the way he blesses humanity with what he does. Think about the love, peace, and smiles he spreads. Think how much he will want all this to expand and go on. Think how much he wants you and everyone else to be successful. Think how happy he, and all of those who came before him, will be if you continue what they have started. Honor them. Follow your bliss.

April 18

April 18. Good morning! Today’s another beautiful day in Heaven, isn’t it? Let us be grateful and happy. Today is a good day to reflect on your life, your daily routine, and your priorities. Begin your day by going to the center of your being, to that place of peace and stillness beyond the thinking mind. At the end of your meditation, think about your life. Are you doing the things that are good for you? Are you doing the things that you want to do? Are you doing the things that you must do, the things that you know you should be doing? Do you have a healthy daily routine that produces contentment and peace of mind? If not, ask yourself, “What is preventing me from taking good care of myself? What is preventing me from working on what is really important? What is preventing me from focusing on the work that will bring about my greatest contribution to the world, and make me happy? What is preventing me from living the life of my dreams?” You probably know the answers already, so put yourself in motion. Envision the life you want to live, and keep this vision alive by returning to it often. Think about what you want to accomplish, and set your goals and a timeline. Plan your year, your month, your week, and your day. Decide how much time you will give for each task, and then put the stopwatch to work for you; stay focused on the task at hand, avoid distractions, and forget about the rest. Be here, now. Get control of your life. Get organized. Get rid of the clutter. Simplify, so you can give your time and attention to what really matters to you. You can do it. It starts today. Today is a special day. Today is your Independence Day. Today is your Rebirthday, the day of your old life’s death and your new life’s birth. Today is the first day of the rest of your new and memorable life. It begins now. Rise to the challenges! Go forth and do it! Just do it! Now! Namaste. ~ Piero

April 19

April 19. Good morning! Today’s another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it? Let us be grateful and happy. The sun came out again, the Earth keeps rotating, and the ocean is in its place. But although everything looks the same, nothing is the same. It’s all new. It’s all now. It’s a new now. It’s a new day. Today is a good day to be happy, content and satisfied with the abundance in your life. Look around and see how much you got, and be grateful. What are you complaining about? Why? Find abundance in the clutter, and be grateful. Find life in the chaos, and be grateful. Find what is right in what is wrong, and be grateful. Don’t desire anything to be different today. Just be grateful. Be grateful for the much life has given you. Accept all the gifts, and be grateful. Maybe focusing on what you don’t want is preventing you from getting what you want. Think about it. Maybe your non-satisfaction and ungratefulness are blocking the flow of the good things in your life. Stop complaining and start giving thanks. Today is a good day to be grateful. Today is a good day to give thanks. Don’t want anything to be different today. Don’t ask for anything today. Just enjoy the day as it comes, with its gifts, with its blessings. Say to yourself, “What a great life I have. How fortunate I am. How blessed I am. Forces of the Universe, thank you, thank you, thank you.” Today is a good day to be happy, content and satisfied. Go forth, and enjoy. Just do it! Namaste.~ Piero

April 20

April 20. Good morning! Today is another beautiful day in Heaven, isn’t it? Look with the eyes of the heart: can you see the Magic, the Mystery, and the Miracles? Our world is full of wonder, isn’t it? Let us rejoice and be happy.

Let us begin this day with our silent meditative practice. Find a comfortable position in a peaceful setting and stay in silence for 20 minutes. Focus on your breathing. Whenever you get distracted by your thoughts, emotions, noises, or sensations in your body, redirect your attention to your breathing and disengage from the distraction. Practice staying as much as possible in the gap between thoughts, expanding the time you spend in that place of stillness beyond the thinking mind. That is the Here-Now, the realm of Oneness where egos and the conflicts they generate cease to exist.

The ego, or the false-self, is that illusory entity that you have created in your mind and that you believe you are. The ego is the main character in the story you have created about yourself, a story that is highly dependent on your perception of time, and that you keep repeating in order to convince the world, and your own self, of how special and better than the rest you are. Your ego is the one who is constantly comparing and criticizing, the one who likes to be right all the time, win all the time, and be praised and recognized all the time. But although you identify yourself with that character, the truth is that you are not your ego. Your true nature resides beyond the illusory boundaries that you have created, and that make you believe that you are a physical being detached from others.

Now, notice how much time your mind is occupied with judgment and condemnation. Recognize that this is your ego at work. Gently switch your attitude to one of compassion, forgiveness and love. Recognize that no one is perfect, that we all have our frailties and shortcomings, that we all are on our own journeys, and make it your objective today to mentally pardon and release those you have been keeping imprisoned in your mind. As you let them go, realize that you are setting yourself free. You are not only releasing them; you are releasing yourself.

Today is a good day to remember that our purpose in life is to help one another. Make it your objective today to be kind with everyone you meet. Make all individuals you meet feel loved and special. Support them on their journeys to become the best that they can be. We are all connected, all parts of the same one big organism, and what affects one of us, affects all of us. When we help others, we are helping ourselves. When we hurt others, we are hurting ourselves. When we put obstacles in somebody else’s path — when what we say and do discourages them from following their dreams, for instance — we are doing the same to our own selves.

Once again, keep in mind that we are here to help one another. So, make it your objective today to be more supportive of others than you have ever been before. Bless everyone you meet with generous attention, enthusiastic encouragement, and genuine willingness to help. Every time you meet a person today, ask yourself, “What can I do to support this person on her journey? What can I do to make her day a better one?” Smile. You can do more than you think. Every little thing you do matters. Go forth and do it. Just do it! Namaste. ~ Piero

April 21

April 21. Good morning! Pause for a moment, breathe consciously, and see the beauty that surrounds you. Use the eyes of the heart and see the Magic, the Mystery, and the Miracles. Wonderful, isn’t it? Say, “Thank you.” It’s good to be alive, isn’t it? Life is an exciting journey of discovery, isn’t it? Today is another good day to practice to be happy, content and satisfied. Find contentment in who you are, instead of running to the future trying to be who you are not. Be satisfied with what you have, instead of running to the future trying to acquire what you don’t have. Be happy with what you do, instead of running to the future trying to do something else. Be here, now, happy, content and satisfied. Give thanks. You are enough. You have enough. You do enough. Thank you for being who you are. Namaste. ~ Piero

April 22

April 22. Good morning! Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it? Let us be grateful and happy. Today’s a good day to practice optimism. Start your day with the decision to see beauty and good in everything, everywhere. Make it your commitment for the day to find the good in every situation and every person you meet. Develop a positive outlook with positive affirmations such as, “Today is going to be a great day! I am going to bring a positive, transformative energy to all situations and people I interact with today!” Go forth and exude positivity, generosity, and optimism. Make of this day the best day ever. You can do it. You are in control. It’s only a matter of attitude. Go forth and do it. Just do it! Namaste. ~ Piero

April 23

April 23. Good morning! The sun and all the other stars in the cosmos continue to shine. Let’s pause and be amazed with the incredible organizing power of this vast Universe, and reflect on the Magic, the Mystery, and the Miracles of it all. Today is another beautiful day in our precious Paradise, isn’t it? Let us be grateful and happy. Today is a good day to reflect on who we are. It is clear that we are special animals with developed brains, beings who have the ability to think with a high degree of sophistication. This in itself is magical, mysterious and miraculous, isn’t it? But is that who we are ? Are we just these developed animals? Or are we, as Teilhard de Chardin said, “not human beings having spiritual experiences, but spiritual beings having human experiences?”

“Who are we? Who am I?”

Today is a good day to think about the answer that resonates the most with you. I invite you to look for answers beyond the thinking mind, beyond all accumulated knowledge, in that place of no thoughts, that void of nothingness where all knowing resides.

I encourage you to go out, explore, come back, and share your findings. But let me warn you: be prepared for the challenging times you will face when trying to communicate your discoveries to those who have not taken the journey. Words will not be of much help in your attempts to explain your experiences and share your discoveries, simply because your findings are not in the same dimension as that of the thinking mind.

So, come to the quiet, be still, and know… and bless the Universe with your knowing. Be here, now, and bless the Universe with your presence. Go out, explore, and come back to the place where your journey began, knowing that, like all the explorers that preceded you, that’s where you will find the answers you have been looking for. Namaste. ~ Piero

Daily Reflections – Week 15

april 10

April 10. Good morning! Look at the sky. Feel the warmth as the rays of the Sun touch your skin. Feel the breeze. Aren’t you blessed? Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it? Be grateful. Today’s a good day to bring out the best version of yourself. But before putting yourself in motion to acquire more knowledge or learn new skills, pause to realize the knowledge and skills that already reside within you. Commence this journey from within. Let having a deep knowing of yourself be the starting point of your journey. Learn to enjoy silence and solitude, and to listen to the voice of God. Dedicate time to connect with your inner wisdom. Realize that your main job is to find your inner treasure and bring it out into the world. Your main job is to allow your authentic self to come to light. By doing so, you will be enriching the world with your uniqueness. May this be the beginning of your journey to become the best version of yourself. This is what will allow you to give your best contribution to the world. You don’t need to do more, add more, or acquire more. All you need to do now is to allow your authentic self to come to light. All you need to do now is to find your inner treasure, bring it out, and share it with humanity. Know this inner source of unlimited wealth and how to access it, and live every moment of your life as this immensely rich, wise and successful being that you are. It feels good, doesn’t it? That’s it. You can do it. Just do it! Right here. Right now. Namaste.

april 11

April 11. Good morning! The sun came out again, and what a beautiful day it is! Look around and see the Magic, the Mystery, and the Miracles. Today is another wonderful day in Paradise, isn’t it? Let us be grateful and happy. Today is a good day to continue practicing to let go of troubling thoughts. Go to that place of peace, silence and stillness within you, and observe what is going on in your mind. Identify those thoughts that bring about regret, resentment, remorse, worry and fear, and realize that they are there because your mind is either in the past or in the future, remembering, imagining, or projecting. Identify those recurring thoughts, the ones that come up often, the ones that are played in your mind time and time again, and realize that none of those troubling thoughts are real; they are solely in your mind. Realize that in the present moment, right here, right now, everything is fine. Remember that the present moment is all that there is; the rest is illusion. The past is gone and the future is not here, and when it arrives it will not be the future: it will be the Now. Practice to live mindfully. Practice to catch yourself when your mind is wandering away, and to gently steer it back to here-now, letting your troubling thoughts go. Use the technique of becoming aware of your breathing as your aid to come back to the present moment. Populate your mind with hope, confidence, optimism, and the resolve to courageously tackle whatever situations may be troubling you, one by one, one at a time, in the present moment. Focus on the here-now. Plan your work and work your plan. Take action to get rid of your problems. Simplify your life. Go ahead and do it. You can do it. Just do it! Now! Namaste.

april 12

April 12. Good morning! Today is another beautiful day in Heaven, isn’t it? Let us be grateful and happy. Today is a good day to practice creative visualization. Go to the center of our being, to that place of stillness and serenity, and imagine you having a perfect day today. This is a powerful visualization that will help you create a wonderful day. Visualize your day from the moment you wake up until the moment you go to bed at night. Divide your day in segments, and visualize each part of your day, such as your breakfast, your workout, your meditation, your work projects, visualize everything unfolding beautifully, as you desire, or even better, giving you great satisfaction. Imagine all your commutes being pleasant. Imagine all your interactions being pleasant. Imagine meeting wonderful people and having wonderful, enriching experiences and conversations throughout the day. Imagine sharing many beautiful moments with people you love. Imagine perfect meals with delicious, nutritious food. Now imagine you tackling your projects. Visualize everything unfolding easily and smoothly, with you being able to get a lot accomplished. How does it feel? Isn’t it a great feeling? Focus on the feelings. Visualize yourself in awe, noticing all the beauty that surrounds you. Visualize yourself telling yourself, “This is it! This is awesome! I am so blessed! I have such a good life! I love my life!” Visualize yourself being truly happy, content, and satisfied. Concentrate on the feelings. Imagine yourself exuding optimism and blessing everybody you meet with your positive energy. Can you see how your positive, peaceful presence enriches their lives? Can you feel how much better they feel when you are around? Imagine yourself successfully practicing mindfulness, paying attention, being alert, and living fully in the present moment throughout the day. Now, let me reveal the secret for having this perfect day: look for and find all the wonderful things you have visualized as your day unfolds. One more time… Go forth, look for and find what you have visualized, and have a perfect day. Namaste.

april 13

April 13. Good morning! Today is another beautiful day in Heaven, isn’t it? Let us be grateful and happy. If you haven’t been doing it, today is a good day to go back to the practice of meditation. Find a quiet place and start your day by sitting still. Close you eyes and focus on your breathing. Mentally count the duration of your inhalation and exhalation. Observe what is going on in your mind. As you become aware of your thoughts, gently let them go by refocusing on your breathing, on the counting, or silently reciting a mantra. Go to that place of peace, silence, and stillness that you find beyond the thinking mind. When you catch yourself thinking, acknowledge the fact, but don’t engage any further with your thoughts; don’t continue the mental activity. Pause, tell yourself, “I will get back to that after the meditation is over,” and release the thought. Visualize a little boat, which is now carrying your thought away, floating down a stream and disappearing in the distance. Stay in the gap between thoughts. Now that you have completed your meditation, take some additional time to consider these two situations: imagine winning a huge sum of money, and now having all the means to do whatever you want; what would you do? And here’s the second question… Imagine being told that you only have a limited time to live; what would you do? Listen to the answers. If you are not sure of the answers, come back to the questions other times of the day, or other days. Meditate. Be still and let the true answers come to you. Your journey to get anywhere begins from the place where you are. Before setting yourself in motion to get somewhere, be aware of where you stand, here, now. If you don’t know where you want to go, don’t move. If you don’t know where you are, don’t move. Get clarity on your current location and destination before doing anything.

“What do I do when I am lost in the forest?” asks the disciple. The master responds, “Stand still! The forest knows where you are. You must let it find you.” Namaste. ~ Piero

april 14

April 14. Good morning! Today is another beautiful day in paradise, isn’t it? Let us be grateful and happy. Today is a good day to practice the art of living mindfully. Begin by realizing that you are not your thoughts. You are not the thinker; you are the one who is able to observe what’s going on in your mind. To be mindful is to be aware; aware of what is going on right here, right now, in this present moment. Mindfulness is awareness; moment to moment awareness. To be mindful is to be awake, alert, aware, and alive. Make of your life your meditation practice. Meditate all the time. Ask yourself, “Where am I right now? What am I doing right now? How am I feeling right now? What am I thinking right now?” Develop the habit of asking these questions many times throughout the day. This will make you mindful of the present moment, the only moment that there is. Be here, now. When you are cooking, cook. When you are eating, eat. When you are in the shower, be in the shower. Be aware. Be mindful. Be here, now. Mindfulness is the practice of bringing your mind back to the present moment. One of the easiest ways of doing it is by pausing and redirecting your attention to your breathing. When breathing, breathe. We are only alive in this moment. Be here, now. Become the Observer, the Watcher, the Witness, the Knower. As your mind drifts away into the past and the future, bring it back to the present. This is your practice. Make it your intention to pay attention to the present moment without judging it. Don’t expect anything. Don’t judge the quality of your mindfulness meditation. There’s no right or wrong way of doing it. Just do it! Do it and bring more peace to your life and to the world. Namaste.

april 15

April 15. Good morning! Today is another beautiful day in paradise, isn’t it? Let us be grateful and happy. Today is a good day to reflect upon your priorities in life. Go to the center of your being. Meditate, and after your meditation, ponder… What is calling me? What is the greatest contribution that I can give to the world? What is the one thing that I know I should do? What is the one thing that nine months from now, looking back, I will say with conviction, “That was the right thing to do. I am happy that I have decided to do it. I am happy that I have put my energy into doing it, and said “no” to other less important things.” What is the one thing that if you do it, no matter what else may happen in your life, will make you feel good about yourself? What is the one thing that nine months from now, looking back, you will regret not having done? If you know what this thing is, don’t waste any time. Honor your destiny. Put yourself in motion. Walk on the path that is right for you. Follow your bliss. Begin now. Don’t think too much. Do it. Just do it! Namaste.

april 16

April 16. Good morning! Can you hear the silence? Pause. Listen. What do you hear? There is a humming in the silence. Can you hear it? Today’s another beautiful day in paradise, isn’t it? Today’s a good day to go outside and immerse yourself in nature. Go outside and look at the sky. Are there any clouds? It’s beautiful, isn’t it? Look down. Can you see the blades of grass? Weeds? Some fallen leaves, maybe? Notice the little things that are near you. Do you see the ants, the bees? Notice also the big things that are far from you. Notice the vastness of the sky and realize that you are standing on top of a rotating sphere traveling through the cosmos. Pay attention! Be alert! Notice the Magic, the Mystery, and the Miracles that surround and bless you all the time. Can you see birth? Can you see death? Can you understand the impermanence of all things? Can you see rebirth? Observe your breathing. Breathe in and notice the quality of your breathing, the air flowing through your nostrils, the movements of your abdomen and chest. Breathe out and observe. Be here, now. Notice your feet touching the ground. Feel the sacredness of where you stand; it is holy ground, all of it. Everything is beautiful. Everything is magical, miraculous and mysterious. Do you see the shadows and the light? Recognize the wonder of all and be grateful. See beauty everywhere, all around you. Breathe in. Breathe out. Feel the Force in you and all around you. Can you feel it? Can you feel it? Right here, right now, in this present moment, you are awake, alert, aware and alive. Right here, right now you are whole, perfect and complete; nothing is missing. Nothing to want. Everything to be grateful for. Pause. You are practicing mindfulness. You are here, now. You are living mindfully. You are a peaceful presence. You are a blessing to the world. Now, go forth in this mindful state, and bless the world with your peace. Namaste.

April 4

April 04

Good morning! Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it? Let us pause and think about the magnificent spectacles Sister Moon and Brother Sun put up in the skies for us, for free, day in and day out, night in and night out, and let us be grateful and happy for the unlimited abundance and generosity of the Universe. Today is a good day to build community. So, go forth and call your friends. Go meet them. Share time with them. Listen to them. Give them your undivided attention. Tell them how much you love them. Hug them. Let them feel that they are special and loved. Treat them as they wish to be treated. Be kind. Be attentive. Be generous. Be patient. Be respectful. And be all that not only with the ones you love, but also with everyone else you meet today. Be the one who brings Heaven to Earth, and reveals it to others. You are the one! Do it! Just do it! Go forth to create and enjoy a heavenly day. Namaste.

April 5

April 05

Good morning! What a beautiful morning! Today is another beautiful day in Heaven, isn’t it? Be grateful and enjoy the gift. Today is a good day to remember who you are and what you came here to do. Remember that you are unique. Throughout time, there will only be one of you. No one will ever be alike. You are unique and so are your creations. Pause for a moment, breathe consciously, go to your place of peace, and ask yourself, “What is calling me? What is trying to come to light through me?” You know the answer. Go forth and express yourself! Create! Create! Create! Don’t let anything stop you from giving your unique contribution to the world. Don’t compare, judge, or criticize yourself and your creation. Don’t allow the criticism of others to stop you from expressing yourself. Your job is to find your vocation and pursue it. Your job is to find your passion and surrender to it. Your job is to find your bliss and follow it. Your job is to allow the Universal Life Force to create through you. Allow! Allow! Allow! Don’t block it. You are an unique and special expression of the Universe and everything you do that is in alignment with your true and authentic nature is unique and special. You are the one we have been waiting for. Go forth. Create. Allow. Now. You can do it. You must do it. Do it. Don’t hesitate. Just do it. Now! Namaste.

April 6

April 06

Good morning! The night is slowly vanishing as a new day begins. Think about it as a cycle of constant renewal, a cycle of death and birth that keeps repeating itself. Today is a good day for the death of the false you and the birth of the authentic you. Happy resurrection! A new life starts today. Pause for a moment, become conscious of your breathing, relax, ground yourself, and feel the flow of energy through you. Claim the joy, peace, and bliss that is yours. Remove the self-imposed obstacles: the fear, the doubt, and the self-criticism. Let the Creative Force of the Universe that is immensely more powerful than you can fathom, flow and create through you. Allow! Allow! Allow! You are powerful, valuable, and capable. What you have to offer is good, important, and necessary. The world needs it. The world needs you, your authentic you! Go forth, be yourself — your authentic self — and bless us with your gifts. Do it! you can do it! Just do it! Now! Namaste.

April 07

Good morning! Today is another beautiful day in Paradise , isn’t it? Look for beauty around you and find plenty of it in your life. Be grateful and rejoice! Today is a good day to cultivate the sensation of abundance. Close your eyes, and observe your breathing. Settle down, bring to your mind a place and time when you felt amazingly well, and bask in the feelings of peace, serenity, joy, safety, possibility and prosperity you felt then. Your job is to cultivate these feelings of abundance by evoking those memories, images and sensations often. Ground yourself on these feelings. Make them the soil for your roots. Live from them. Live a fearless life. Believe in abundance and give with confidence. Be generous and harvest the blessings. Just do it! Namaste.

April 8

April 08

Good morning! Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it? Look around with the eyes of the heart and see the Magic, the Mystery, and the Miracles. Be grateful and rejoice with the gifts that were given to you. Today is a good day to be gentle with yourself and give yourself the gift of rest. Today is a good day to recommit to your diligent daily discipline and start your day with meditation. Find a comfortable position, close your eyes, and observe your breathing. For the next twenty minutes, every time you become aware of your thoughts, acknowledge them and gently let them go. Bring your attention back to your breathing. Mentally recite a mantra. Come back to that gap between thoughts, that place of silence and stillness beyond the chaotic and noisy activity of the thinking mind. Now, go about your day practicing mindfulness. Become the Observer, the Watcher, the Witness. Pay attention. Be alert. Pause, observe, and discern. What is real? What is illusion? Free yourself from the illusory promises of happiness. Simplify. Become a master in the art of living mindfully. Find peace and bring it to the world. Namaste.

April 9

April 09

Good morning! Another 24 hours went by. The sun is shining again, and the birds are singing. Today’s another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it? Let us be grateful and happy. Today is a good day to practice finding contentment and peace in the present moment. Today is a good day to find the life you always wanted right here, right now. Today is a good day to find everything that you ever desired right in this instant. Stop trying to get to a destination in the future thinking that you’re going to be happy and fulfilled once you get there. How has this worked for you so far? Not very well, right? Haven’t you had enough of it already? Aren’t you tired? Stop saying, “This is not it,” and start saying, “This is it, and it is great!” Stop speeding up and getting all stressed out in your vain attempt to to get to the future fast. Stop the never-ending chase to get what you don’t have, and appreciate what was given to you. Stop trying to be who you are not, and be who you are. Find fulfillment in what you do. Slow down, give thanks, and enjoy. Every moment is precious. Find the Magic, the Mystery, and the Miracles in the present moment. The present is in the present. The gift is in the now. Find contentment now. Find happiness and joy now. Find serenity and peace now. Be here, now. Right here. Right now. Namaste.

Silent Peace Walk: Stepping into Action

Young Americans have not seen during their lifetime, public demonstrations as strong and successful as the ones pro Civil Rights and against the Vietnam War that took place in the ‘60s. The honorable exception, mainly for its extended duration, was the Occupy Movement which advocates social justice through a more balanced distribution of wealth. Regrettably, the movement wasn’t able, at least up to the present time, to bring about the desired change; inequality is a reality, and the situation keeps getting worse. It could be said that young Americans have not yet witnessed the power of nonviolent action to better their immediate status quo. As a consequence, many individuals doubt that nonviolent actions, such as public demonstrations and civil disobedience, can be effective in bringing about change. Add to this scenario a dysfunctional political system with a representative democracy that does not equally represent and a media that does not inform, and one has a recipe for the mass apathy and resignation that appears to be prevalent in our country and in many other countries of the world. It is evident that there is a lack of interest and disbelief in our world. It certainly would be nice to have more people actively engaged in the work of promoting social justice, peace and protection of the environment. We have to ask ourselves, “What can we do?”

First, it’s our responsibility to do what we can to wake up the masses and remind them of the many places in the world where, right now, nonviolent action is producing positive change. The idea that nonviolence does not work is a myth. Nonviolent action works. Period.

Second, we need to be creative and come up with initiatives where people who currently don’t do so can learn and practice how to publicly express themselves. We need to find ways to attract those “non-engaged” individuals and get them involved and active. We need to create events where those more hesitant individuals can feel safe to participate and publicly advocate for worthy causes. We need to offer non-threatening venues for the shyest among us to gather and collectively express their desire for a better world.

Enter the monthly Silent Peace Walk, an easy-to-do, non-threatening, and gentle introduction to activism.

The Silent Peace Walk is simple: people gather to walk in silence for peace. Yes, it can be considered a simple walking meditation that enhances inner peace, but it is more than that; it’s also is a way of bringing together a group of like-minded individuals who will meet regularly, work together, and build a movement. We have been leading Silent Peace Walks in our community once a month for nearly nine years, and this initiative has built connections that opened inter-faith dialogues, cross-cultural and multicultural conversations, and has helped build a culture of respect and peace in our community.

Group Hug

Sometimes, your nonviolent action can be as simple as looking someone in the eyes and sharing a hug. That’s what we do at the beginning and closing of every Silent Peace Walk; we announce, “It’s Hug Time!” and Peace Walkers know exactly what to do. We know that there’s nothing like a good hug! You cannot give one without getting one! It brings comfort, peace and smiles. It is the expression of nonviolence.

I encourage you to consider initiating a monthly Silent Peace Walk where you live, and sharing many hugs throughout your days.

Daily Reflections – Week 13

March 27March 27

Good morning! Today is another beautiful day in Heaven, isn’t it? As always, go to the silence, look around, see beauty, and give thanks. Today, again, is a good day to practice holding back your urge to compare yourself with others. Realize that comparing and envying are doings of the ego. The ego separates you from others, by constantly judging everyone, and incessantly telling you how right, special, important, and better than the rest you are. Realize that envy comes from identification with the ego. You can only envy others when you see them as separated from you. Remember that the ego is that collection of mental images you have of yourself and stories you tell about yourself. But you are not that. Your essence, who you truly are, is above and beyond all this mental noise. You are not your ego. So, today, when you catch yourself in those moments of comparison and envy, choose to redirect your thoughts. Go to your place of stillness, and experience Oneness. Now, go forth and have a wonderful day, full of mindful moments. Bless the world with your peaceful presence. Namaste.

March 28March 28

Good morning! The rotating sphere we live on continues to spin. Night was again followed by another beautiful day in Paradise. Let us be grateful and happy. Today is a good day to think about how good we feel when we make others feel good. Think about the good feelings you experience when you help others. Think about the times when you did something that brought a smile to someone else’s face. Think how good you felt when someone looked you in the eyes and sincerely thanked you for your kindness. The truth is that we need connection and affection, and the way of getting is giving. So, today, go forth and give love to the people you meet. Do something for someone else without wanting or waiting anything in return. Be kind. Say something nice. Give someone a hug and realize that at the same time that you are giving you are also receiving. Life is good, isn’t it? Do you want to make it even better? Do you want to have an extraordinary life? Bring hope to the hopeless. Bring optimism to the pessimist. Spread love and affection, and you will be richly rewarded. Go ahead, be kind, and save someone else’s life today. Do it. Just do it! Namaste.

March 29March 29

Good morning! Today is another beautiful day in Heaven, isn’t it? Let us absorb all this majestic beauty and be happy. Today is a good day to experience peace. Reasons to worry and to be angry will always exist, but today make a commitment to be in the lookout and not allow these emotions to get a hold of you. Today, choose to go beyond the mental and emotional noise, and position yourself above all disturbances. Today, spend a lot of time in that place of stillness and silence where you will find a profound sense of peace, and where you will have a clearer vision of who you really are. Close your eyes and observe your breathing. Now, observe your thoughts, emotions, and the feelings in your body. With each exhalation, calm down and relax a little more. Be gentle with yourself. Treat yourself with love, patience, and kindness. Give yourself the gift of rest. Acknowledge what is bothering you but do not give the disturbing thoughts and emotions any further attention. Do not engage in the process of imagining. The moment you realize that you have been captured by your thoughts and emotions, gently set yourself free, and release them as well; let them go. Be here, now. Come back to the present moment by focusing on your breathing. By doing so over and over again you will be spending more and more time in this place of immense serenity. This process of cultivating inner tranquility will bring you peace and make you a bringer of peace. Go forth now, and be the peace you wish to see in the world. Namaste.

March 30March 30

Good morning! It’s another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it? Let us pause for a moment and bring to our minds some of the things we are grateful for. There’s a lot to be thankful for, right? So let us rejoice and be happy! Today is a good day to experience the Essence of Everything, and feel indescribable peace. Begin by remembering that you are more than the images and ideas you have about yourself. You are not a standalone, separated individual; you are an expression of the Essence of Everything. Now, go beyond your thinking mind, to that place of vast emptiness. Feel how spacious, calm and quiet this place is, and find yourself completely untroubled, totally at home. Stay a little longer in this place of silence and stillness and feel entirely comfortable, safe and secure. Now, dissolve the illusion of your individual self into the Essence of Everything. Melt down. Merge. Become one. Now, look around! Do you see the leaves moving with the wind? Everything you see is an expression of the Essence of Everything. The same Essence is everywhere. We are connected. We are united. We are One. Go to that place of nothingness and experience the ultimate peace of knowing that you are the Essence of Everything! Namaste.

March 31March 31

Good morning! Today is another beautiful day in Heaven, isn’t it? Look around and let the Magic, the Mystery, and the Miracles bring a smile to your face! Be grateful and happy! Today is a good day to let go of the recurring worries, those thoughts that keep coming back such as the demands of life, things you know you have to do, but that you don’t want to, those tasks you keep postponing, hoping that somehow they will go away. How has this worked for you? Not very well, right? Well, today is a good day to begin practicing a different approach. Choose one of the things that you don’t want to do and tackle it first. If it is a big task, divide it in a series of smaller ones. If is something that is going to take a lot of time, give it attention for at least a few minutes today, and then again in the upcoming days. It may be hard to face it, but you know that sooner or later it will have to be done, don’t you? So don’t think too much. Just do it! Know that once you have finished it, you will be free! Free! Those troubling thoughts and feelings will not be there anymore, haunting you and eroding your inner peace. Practice to stay in the present moment, focused on the task at hand. Here! Now! Go forth and conquer! You are powerful and victorious! Namaste.

April 1April 1

Good morning! Today is another wonderful day in Heaven, isn’t it? Pause for a moment, look around, and receive the blessings from the Magic, the Mystery, and the Miracles. Let us rejoice and be happy! Today is good day to realize that we operate in two different dimensions, or two different spaces. One is the space of our egos, our individualities, and the other is the space of Oneness. One is the space limited by our thinking minds, while the other is the vast space of the Higher Consciousness, a space that has no boundaries. One is the space of gained, accumulated knowledge, while the other is the space of All Knowing. Today is a good day to realize that we are called to be aware of this dichotomy, and understand how it affects our lives. We are social beings, and we crave connection, but the sublime connection we seek can only be realized in the expansive Space of Emptiness that is located above and beyond our thoughts. Trust that if you go to the Space of Nothingness you will find harmony and peace, and everything will be working for the greater good. So, go now! You can access it anytime! See beyond what you see. See with the eyes of the heart. Just do it! Now! Namaste.

April 2April 2

Good morning! Look around. Today is another beautiful day in Paradise, isn’t it? Express your gratitude for all the Universe has given you and be happy. Today is a good day to ask ourselves, “Why am I here? What am I looking for? What do I ultimately seek?” Today is a good day to experience fulfillment and serenity by Connecting, Communicating, and Communing. We yearn for Connection, Communication, and Communion with others, but unconsciously we work in the opposite direction, isolating ourselves through our thoughts, words, and actions. Pause and think. Don’t we see ourselves, most of the time, as separated from others and from everything else in the Universe? Our egos are isolation-producing mechanisms, constantly comparing ourselves with others, creating stories about ourselves, telling us how different we are. We unconsciously engage in the unfulfilling practice of trying to differentiate and separate ourselves from others through the acquisition and accumulation of possessions, prestige, position, power, and privileges. Feeling isolated, we then try to fulfill our yearning for community by joining and belonging to all sorts of clubs, tribes, and gangs that, by their own nature, include some but exclude many. We profess our loyalty to our teams, schools, churches, countries, political parties, religions, and ideologies, but in these attempts to belong to a community, we separate ourselves from others even more, and the pain produced by separation and isolation does not go away; it only gets bigger. I invite you, today, to calmly accept this reality; this is life. As I usually recommend, be gentle with yourself. Breathe in and out and give yourself some moments of rest. I invite you to remember that we operate in two different spaces: the physical and the non-physical. I invite you to close your eyes, become conscious of your breathing, and meditate. Go beyond the thinking mind. As you enter this new space, notice that judgment, comparison, separation, and isolation begin to disappear. You are entering a vast space where there are no separating walls. You are entering the realm of total Connection, Communication, and Communion. This is the Realm of Oneness. Rejoice! This is it! I will meet you there, you will meet me there, and we will Connect, Communicate, and Commune with everyone else in the Realm of Oneness. There is where we will fulfill our yearning for Communion, because we will Commune with the Source of All, and know that we are One. Now, practice mindfulness. Live mindfully. Pay attention! Be alert! Go forth and live this new, liberated life, by staying in the Realm of Oneness as many moments of your life as possible. What you have been looking for is and has always been inside your own self. Find peace within and become the bringer of peace the world has been waiting for. You can do it. Just do it! Now! Namaste.
