I am not an island

To all of you out there, beautiful souls, who give of yourselves to make this world a better place…

To all of you out there, beautiful souls, who give of yourselves to make the lives of our fellow men better…

To all of you out there, beautiful souls, who engage in the work of inner exploration and betterment of your own selves…

To all of you who, despite the mundane pressures, demands and distractions of life, engage in the work of finding and cultivating justice, peace and beauty within your own selves, and who, by doing so, make the world more peaceful and beautiful for all of us…

… I want to say, “Thank you.”

I am deeply touched by the work you do.

When you feed someone, you are also feeding me. When you shelter someone, you are also sheltering me. When you clothe someone, you are also clothing me. When you protect someone, you are also protecting me. When you give someone love, you are also giving love to me.

Every time someone’s life is diminished, I am diminished, but every time a life is exalted, I am exalted. We are all connected. When you do good, good is bestowed upon all of us. When you better yourself, you aren’t the only one benefiting from it; I am too. When you take good care of others, you are also caring for me. When you lift someone up, you are also lifting me up. For that — for lifting your own self and others up, and, therefore, for lifting me up — I am grateful.

Receive my heartfelt, “Thank you.”

“No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main… any man’s death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.” ~ John Donne

Thank you.

Be well.
